Quick and simple question for the gt2 owners
Why do you have to roll yours too?

Like Paulie said, I have a 01 turbo and I am getting wheels made that sit very flush with a gt2 so I'll need to roll the fenders in order for them to fit.

Twin T said he has GT2 Wheels on his TT with no issues without rolling them, and I just put my GT2 wheels on my TT that I am taking to TPC to have set up for RR and they told me that I might not need to have the rear fenders rolled when lowered because of the camber and such. If I do have to have the fenders rolled who would do something like that without dinging up the fenders.
I had stock GT2 wheels and tires with 7mm spacers in the rear no rubbing at all with rolled fenders.
I rolled my own fenders by applying 3 layers of duct tape on the striking end of a 2lb mallet to protect the paint and beat the inner lips back gently. No paint chips or dents, took 5 minutes each side. It's simpler and less risky than you might think. 4 years later, it's still perfect.
Rolling the rear fenders opens a good 1/2". The fronts are factory rolled on all widebody 996 cars and can take MUCH wider setups than you might think. The only issue is that taking the front wheels out too far begins to rub the inner fender liners at about 50% lock and can wear a hole in them (right behind the radiators) or worse start a fire. A heat gun can help you push back the liner a bit and open space permanently.
I run 15mm spacers on champion 11.5" rear wheels and 315/25-19s... it's a nice fit with ZERO rubbing.

Really no big deal. A good shop can do it for not alot of $$$ without risk to the paint work
