I don't understand where the "Porsche drivers are ******" thing comes from. Almost without exception I have met great people at the get togethers, clubs, track, etc. I'm far from even having one million and I know one of the wealthiest guys in my local club is one of the most unassuming and nicest guys around.

 

You've apparently never been to California. This was one of my primary concerns when I decided I wanted a 996TT - the stigma that I would be one of "those guys"... because they are aplenty around here I assure you.

Of course I know several who are not and met many of them thru 6speed, but the Porsche ***** reputation was not borne out of nothing.....

 

The wealthiest guy I know has been mistaken for the gardener on more than one occasion!

He spends most of his time driving an old pick up yet he owns a ton of property here. A very cool guy

 

If the theink porsche drivers are ******, they've never met Ferrari drivers..lol. There are Snobbs in all high marques. That's just part of the Game. Heck, my old neighbor purchased a Mercedes sl55 and the dealer treated her like crap because she had the cheap mercedes, not the 500's or 600's.

I have had nothing but positive results with people. Just the other day a guy in a big diesel Dodge was wanting me to race him for kicks, he knew he could not win, but just wanted me to fly by him, I'm sure. So I did, at the next light he gave me the thumbs up. I get more thumbs up than negative looks. However, one day coming back from Vail on I-70 I pulled alongside a silver Cayman. It was raining pretty good. I looked over to give the guy a thumbs up and he would not look over at all. I know he heard me as I had straight pipes then. The dude was definitely a *****. That is what people talk about I think.

 

Yes, this is the typical ***** behavior I am talking about as well. But you're right, it is not reserved just for P-car owners... there are plenty of them in all kinds of makes and models.

Yup, it's worse now than it ever has and the truly said thing is that the cops will rather give you a ticket for going 20 kph over the limit than the guy in his souped up Honda snaking through traffic at 150 kph...

I think you may be on to something with the colour though, I had a white Porsche that was such a magnet (no not the chick kind..) but trouble kind.

After more than 10 km with this (unmarked) car on my @ss, I pull over get out, walk up to the car (which pulled over too) to tell the guy what the hell do you want buddy.... and it's a COP!

So I try to sort out my registration and insurance papers, he goes "give them all to me".

He starts flipping through them and says "this is what happens when you've got nice cars, you attract too much attention, well at least you're not driving your Ferrari Modena...mind you this white Porsche is probably worse!"

Finally he say " you can afford the tickets so you might as well relax this could take a while...!

half an our later I get tickets for 8 different infractions from going 18km, 15km, 7km!!! (SEVEN!) over the speed limit to passing on the right and failing to use a turn signal, not doing a full wheel stop etc. etc.

In closing the cop goes, he don't you have a TV show called Sid's Cycle Show...(he laughs) after this I think you'll have to change it to Sid's BICYCLE Show...

Thank got the judge saw it my way and dismissed the charges, otherwise I would have lost my license.

Just saying it's not just the "minivan warriors" you've got to watch out for.

Lived out there for 14 years up till 2006. Didn't have a Porsche during that time though. Once my family obligations are finished here, I plan to return or go to Hawaii. I hate winter.

 

I used to hang out at a shop where lots of Mustangs were worked on - I was the oddball with the Supra but it made power and they left me alone. As it happened lots of cops also hung out there. We used to get 5-6 guys all talking and joking and man the stories they would tell of following Hondas and imports around were awful! These guys hated "ricers" and like a bunch high school punks would just follow them and look for things to pick on them for. It wasn't that these kids were any worse than so many other cars it was that these guys did NOT like the lifestyle choices these kids had made. The same could as easily hold true for a Porsche, a Corvette, or any other make that someone took a dislike to. I had one cop snake his way through a TON of traffic to pull my Supra over and write me an exhaust ticket. When I gave him grief about it he exploded yelling at me that he wasn't going to explain yet again how the law worked. Like he had somehow explained it to me previously? Maybe it was the other dozens of people he had picked on quizzing his ignorance? When a Harley came rumbling by ear splitting loud and I pointed it out he claimed that was "okay" because "Harleys were supposed to be loud and came from the factory that way". I wanted to slap the little punk for being so ignorant. Want to bet he wouldn't pull over the Porsche for a loud exhaust? <sigh> I let it go because it was no points and cheap and my car WAS loud but I'd been clutched when I went by him and he simply saw the 4inch pipe. The LAST thing I wanted was him looking under the hood or noticing other things

 

I wonder if cops might not like Porsches, especially turbos, because they are faster than their patrol cars and personal cars.

 

Well.... here is another from today... it was 54 out today... i thought to my self im deff taking out the p car today , so im rolling into work...the light where i usually hang a left to go into work was red , and i did not feel like sitting the at the light , and it was nice out so i was like, f-it ill take the long way in.....

so im on the main stretch , and on my right there is a car wash , i see popo but i was not speeding , im keeping an eye on them cuase i was able to see them smile and see their heads turn allll the way.... i get about 1 block down... and i see them pull out and haul *** right behind me, sure enough the lights are on .... two of them on the car , young guys early 30s. one guy stays behind the passenger window , and the other comes up after about 3 min looking at my car.....

me- ok ? ( he gives me the the whole tint is illegal in pa etc etc , and its not even dark )
C- heres a 10 day card , get it taken off have any officer sign off and send it in..
me- ok.. sure, (i will have one of the 4 cops i train sign off on it like ussualy lol)

what a bs reason to give a ticket. Meanwhile, some lady is getting raped in an alley while these bozo's are wasting two officers time messing with you. Really, that is why pisses me off the most. Traffic cops are a money making scheme by the cities. nothing more nothing less.

 

I have 2 motorcycle cop friends, one is very close. They both say they don't like going into alleys, bad side of town, etc because anybody they stop over there will not have insurance and will usually have a warrant for arrest for anything from bad checks to wife beating. Then they'd have all that paperwork, etc plus waiting around for a car to pick up the bad guy. It's alot easier just to pull over us and get their allotment out of the way earlier in the day and then go eat donuts for the rest!

They're actually 2 super guys. I'd trust them with my life any day. Just like you and I, they do get burned out in their careers. One of them summed it up like this, "We have to deal all the time with that 1% of the population that you will never encounter, the scum of the earth where life has no value." I think I'd get burned out if I was exposed to that on a daily basis. Cops see everything from car wreck decapitations to shoot outs for a $10 video game. I don't completely blame them for acting the way they do.
