Dropping my car off at TPC Racing next week..
No offense Scott I doubt that many people have this setup in reality to where we can draw a conclusion from it (and I'm not knocking it because I have the same style setup). We decided to do mine on the Y-Pipe into the motor for this exact reason though. Hell in theory you could get away with 1 single TiAL 50mm BOV, but I went with 2 to balance out the Y-Pipe design LOL!
The majority of these setup owners don't drive in the rain or down dusty/rocky roads. Which I end up doing, not by choice of course. If I had done this setup I know Justin and Zohair would have suggested doing the filters though for sure. Hell they wouldn't even let me dyno the car with just screens over the intake pipes because they were so worried about getting something in there.

So let me get this straight. No one to date has ever had a problem with it (and yes, a LOT of guys are running it), but because we don't drive our cars in mud, or participate in the Baja 500...that's not enough quantitative evidence??
Okay.
We have 4 cars in front of it(which were all done today) 986 Boxster Turbo, 997.2 Turbo, 930 Slantnose, 997 3.6 Turbo Conversion.
Scotts car is going to take awhile to get absolutely perfect with what he wants to have done to it. Had to get all of the other work out of the way first.
Go read this if you are bored...

The K&N filters to cover those inlets are about $20 apiece and are designed for PCV vents. When I got my Mustang back from TPC many moons ago it has a Bosch bypass valve from a Porsche application on it and it HAD one of those filters - it sucked air at idle. At the time it was explained to me that having an intake with an opening that wasn't filtered sucking air was "stupid" and I agreed. I would strongly suggest putting a filter over the BOV opening if it's going to be sucking air and if not sealed other than when venting. I'm not sure how the bypass valves turned BOV will do that we use these days but if it acts like mine did way back when then I'd slap a filter on it for safety.
As for no one having issues - how do you know? I could pull your air filter and trickle dust into the engine for a week and it wouldn't be obvious what was going on except for dirtier looking oil maybe. Months later the engine might need a re-ring or rebuild - would you be able to quickly connect the two actions? Why take chance with an expensive motor? If the bypass turned BOV opens and sucks air why take a chance?

They haven't put the car on the dyno yet. Since they'll be tuning with three different fuels, it may take close to a full day on the dyno, so they are understandably trying to finish some other customer's cars. As long they finish by my April 2nd track day, I'll be happy

Strapped to the dyno. They were waiting for Todd K. to return home from Bahrain and get settled. He's back now, so hopefully today!
