997 turbo comparison
997 turbo comparison
I spent Monday this week with a customer's 997TT for the purpose of documenting our 997TT X-cellerator exhaust. The exhaust had been on the car for a few months of testing and now we are officially releasing it with video, etc. Previously, I had only ridden in a stock 997TT for a brief time. Monday, I had use of the car all day and really had a chance to get a feel for the 997TT.
The 997TT for all intents and purposes was very similar to my 996TT, so I am not feeling bad about my 996TT. What was impressive is how easily the 997TT can be made to perform very much like my 996TT, which has numerous mods.
The car I was driving only had a flash, SpeedTech 2.5 X-cellerator and lowering springs. That's it. I was extremely impressed by how fast the car was with only three simple bolt on mods. I was spinning the tires in 3rd gear doing WOT pulls for the video we were working on and not just a little - the tires were clawing for traction in 3rd when the boost came on. If this were my car, I would stop right here, as the car handled great and was plenty fast. The owner has heavily modded previous cars and feels the same way. He's done with just these 3 mods and the car rocks!
Here's a link to the video. Very nice car - I was very impressed. I thought I would share...

That was a terrific video, and the exhaust options sounded great!
Did you find the 997TT interior a clear improvement over the 996TT? Most folks tell me that this is the single greatest differentiator to them when comparing the two.

landjet, I agree...
Thanks, Steve. I loved the way it sounded, too and he is very happy with it!
The interior was nice, new, beautiful and perfect as the car only had 12,900 miles on it. After living with it for the day, I liked it better than I have in the past by just looking at it from the outside, but in the end, I think I like mine just as much - IMO, they are both very nice interiors. The interior finish of the 997TT does appear to be a bit more refined, but for me, not a "must have it" type of thing. All that said, if someone offered to trade me, I would probably take the 997TT.
