flash x50 vs flash non x50
flash x50 vs flash non x50
I am a newbie here. Which will be faster a x50 with a flash or a non x50 with a flash. I heard that the non x50 has a huge gain in horsepower when you flash it.
Quality Exhaust (Stef's Europipe Gen2), Waste Gate Actuator Kit (Kevin's UMW), DVs (Bosch), ECU tune (92 and 100 octane) from UMW. Another 100 HP and lag is reduced by 75%. Amazing. Pulls hard in every gear right up to testicular limits. Best deal in the world - transformational. ~ 545HP at the crank.
i flashed x50 car will be a bit faster then a non x50 due to the k24s...
if you are going to upgrade not worth to just do k24s, what you need to do is the k24/18g upgrade,i bar wastegate actuators from blouch ,a 3 in exhaust , a 5 bar FPR , and some replacement diverter replacements and of course a tune.. and you will be putting down 550 whp or so ... ofcourse your clutch may not love you much after this but.....lol

I driven a K16 flashed car (with exhaust) and it was not on the same planet as my K24 car. Stock K16's are not that fast.
I'd bet a better comparison would be an X50 without a flash vs a K16 with a flash.

I was just logging on to ask this exact question - thanks to the OP!
Just so I'm reading this right - looking for a stock K24 X50 over a stock K16 with the intention of flashing it is not worth the additional premium then? I need to choose which to go for and don't want to do any other mods other than a flash/DV and maybe an exhaust.

Buying a X50 new was in the neighborhood of a 8K option. Not worth it IMO since its just K24s and GT2 I/Cs. For less than that you can go aftermarket and see much better gains. K16 and K24 turbos are available in hybrids but if you for sure so not want to upgrade turbos EVER than DV/flash/exhaust on either vehicle will be sufficient. Be warned: the mod bug will hit you....
Ultimately, the X50 car has more power potential with the larger turbos. A flashed non X50 car should be faster than a stock X50, but a flashed X50 (esecially with the upgraded actuators) would be faster by a bit than a Flashed k16 car. Of course, with the (small) amount of money saved you could just send the stock non-X50 turbos off to blouch for a simple k16/16g treatment and be faster still.
Be carefull though....once you open this can of works, it never closes! lol. Mods are like crack!

It's an $18k option, not $8k.

IMHO, if you already have a K16 equipped car (like myself), a good upgrade path would be to pursue K16/16g's or the newer billet turbo technology out there that allows you to use your existing K16's as a core.
Obviously, if mega power is what you're after, then you should pursue a K24 based (or bigger) setup, but there are some nice options out there for the K16s nowadays...certainly worth researching.

I just recently purchased a 2005 TURBO S CABRIO car. The only mods other than the KW variant 3 lowering was the following. I was wondering if an exhaust is my next move or doesn't it really matter?
