Question GT2 spec wheels on a Turbo

Is there any downside to doing this? Those who have say no, but there has to be a good reason most people go with 11" or 11.5" rears? Or maybe there isn't?

It works fine
TonyNJ has Habitat's previous set with no problems
12" x 18" rears make the car look wider

I bought the GT2's from Habitat and have them on my Turbo now. It gives the car a really agressive yet stock look. They fit perfect and the ride and performance is great when compared to a 19" wheel set-up. The only drawback is that they are heavier than the stock hollow spokes. If you only care about performance then stick with your stock wheels and get some better tires.

Unless we are talking about the '04 GT2 wheels. I guess those are as light as the factory turbo wheels. Anyone weigh them yet or knows how much do they weigh?

They're exactly what I'm talking about.

I can't find the exact numbers, but the '04 GT2 wheels are still ~2 lbs heavier per corner than the hollow spoke Turbo twists.

It's something that I want to do as well. If you go for it, please post some pics so I can see how good they look. Think of it in this way, you could go for 19" wheels that are, with the tyres, much heavier than the '04 GT2 wheels, so these are a much better choice. You can rationalize almost anything.

check out my GT2 sized Fikse Profil 13's in the classifieds (shameless plug ) They're GT2 sizes and much lighter than the stock turbo wheels.

How about if you have 19's, any advantage to running the 12" rear versus the 11 or 11.5? Disadvantages??
