I think you can order a Viper ACR without A/C as well.
However, I believe the term "street car", as it applies to enthusiasts, captures 'modified - tuner' cars only. It's a name used to describe modified street-legal cars that haven't crossed the line and become street-legala, dedicated "race" cars.
But yes, since the term "street car" is so generic, one can easily attempt to skew the discussion by tossing base-model production cars into the argument.

Well my Evo RS came without A/C from factory.. Still something I consider my Street Car.

A street car is one that can pass inspection, Not have a friend get you one. The car has to have wipers and defroster if it came with them. Must be able to not be a cop maginet. Have DOT tires, a horn, lights, and Ebrake. Car must be able to drive atleast 100 miles with out doing anything to it, including adding gas. Must run on pump fuel, E85 is ok since you can buy it at a pump. Also if the car came with Power Steering and it was removed then its a racecar. I dont care if the car doesnt have A/C or stereo, but if you really need to take it out your car it isnt a race car its a sh*t box. Also has to have seat belt and 2 seats if the car came with atleast 2!

As much as I hate to admit it, you and Bob are right. A street car doesn't need to have A/C. I'm not talking about my street car, mind you...

One thing I would have to disagree with is being able to pass inspection. That means it has to have cats.
As long as it has everything else to pass inspection that's good in my book.
My GT can pass inspection except for the cats thing. That costs me an extra $100 each year to get a sticker.

Many of you/us cannot pass smog in Calif so are we talking anywhere? or specifically where you live? That's very different...
Also, we do not need AC here in NorCal. Nice mild temps year round.
Otherwise, wipers, registration, readily available gas-friendly, tires that you can drive on for 50-100 miles without dying. That's my story.

As technology changes, so does my criteria. I guess to be simplistic, If I ever get pulled over, he can't find anything wrong with the car. If Johnny law says it's good, I'm good. I do NOT like obnoxious. As I get older, I really appreciate quiet and stealthy. These days of street legal, 600-1000 whp street cars with a/c and stereos...kinda cool...
No slicks and trailer queen... must have A/C and no 14 point cage lol
