...warning, don't look unless you want a lighter wallet.

sweet, your 2 1/2" core is really a 2 1/8" core. Always good to leave a straight shot to the other side of your intercooler, less pressure drop and all.

LOL yeah you wanna see the end tank... look at this..... its like 5 inches by 1"... deceiving.... when I started my 3.5" ICs I had a chance to look inside as well... Ironically the sides on the IC endtanks are are barely even present... for shear purpose of fitting studs to the brackets... thus they reduced the sides of endtanks... I found a way to maximize every mm I could.. sorry if I hi jacked your thread... just wanted to add to your findnings

Great photos Earl. I really was shocked at how cheap the OEM ICs looked when I swapped, pitiful. They were really restrictive too as I gained 0.1 bar of boost just by switching them out. I guess ECU was calling for more boost but could not get it past the ICs.?

Yes but considering some of the stuff we by this is by far one of the most overlooked upgrades. That's I know for sure.
Cooler air =power
Fancy billet turbos alone will not do it. Lol

yep, though some have claimed that the internal core is the same and the only difference is the additional fin length on the outside.
Neither appear to be great for a modded car

especially if your running boost....
look at the IAts... thats on a 18 g car... same everything except the ICs got swapped.. at 1.15 bar....
before and after... nor am I trying to hi jack just showing that is does matter.. and thats only at moderate boost on a entry level turbo upgrade.

smaller turbos at 1.15 bar emit lots of heat... not sure the temps as I never tested it... but smaller wheels turn faster to produce that target boost and emit a lot of heat.. bigger turbos don't work as hard but do flow more lbs./minute... I tend to agree with you on that one...

Markski,
Would I have to cut out anything in order to fit those intercoolers ?
Also, would I need a retune if I were to get those, or would the ECU adapt
to the intercoolers ?
Last question, would I be able to use my stock piping so I won't have any
tyre issues ? I currently run 315's, in the near future i would like to run 335's like tom kerr as my car sees road courses alot, and I do not want to go through what Dave is currently going through with his custom intercoolers to fit 315s. This looks like a must after i'm finished doing my suspension.
TIA
