Skip Barber anyone?

My son (17 years old) and I are doing the Skip Barber 3-day racing school at Laguna Seca, Mar. 25-27. Anyone on 6speed gonna be there?

This is a spring break father-son kinda thing. I'm doing it for fun and to get up to speed for tracking my newly-modded TT. He is doing it to develop and hone his car-handling skills and to test the waters in terms of his interest/ablity in racing in general.

Also, if anyone has previously done the 3-day racing school specifically, we would appreciate any tips, comments, things to be focused on, etc.

Thanks, guys!

comments on the school

i have done every one of their schools and the panoz stuff ect. The three day school is great and a great way to get up to speed as quick as possible. I have found that almost everyone in the school ends up going very slow in comparison to the cars limits. It's almost impossible to be quick out of the box or even after three days. As for the instruction-top notch. I would watch the video they have going faster and read the book before going to the school.

Really funny, I'm taking the school with my son later this month -- should be a blast.

The open wheel racer they normally use at Skip Barber handles quite differently than a TT. If you'd like to get up to speed to track your TT, you may want to sign up for the programs that use your own car. Lime Rock has such programs through PCA regions. Not sure they are offered on the West coast though.

ypshan...I realize that the open wheel cars are totally different from my TT, but I wanted a real racing instruction course for my son with serious, professional and experienced instructors using purpose built cars. I expect us both to glean some useful driving techniques applicable in any car.

I took the Barber 3-day course a few years ago, you will do just that.
