I had an 02 sensor go bad once and I thought I blew my motor. The car barely ran. I am not sure if it was the front or rear sensor, but it wreaked havoc with the car...big time.

If MAF or 02 have gone south the car may well drop into Limp Mode (which is safe if you stay off the boost) but sadly it runs like a POS due to rich unregulated mixture. Does it feel flat at low throttle/below 2,500 RPM and lumpy?

I would try:

1) Drop the battery to clear the limp mode
2) change the MAF
3) change the brake sensor switch (cured the stalling for me and another member on here an costs less than $20) do a search.
4) 02 sensors - Not sure what to do here sorry..

Jim

Ok, Here is my update...

Unplugged battery- no help

I found a very small (24g green) wire on top of the engine that was missing its terminal and no longer landed.. refit that wire/landed it. - no help

Also found a 3/8 inch vacuum hose that was collapsing from the pressure. went to west marine for some hose to test that. - some help (coincidence?), then back to no help

With the problem persisting, we unhooked the MAF... IDLES PERFECT. I still have PSM and ABS lights, but it idles right with it unplugged. I guess that means I need a MAF, or shall start with that.

"If MAF or 02 have gone south the car may well drop into Limp Mode (which is safe if you stay off the boost) but sadly it runs like a POS due to rich unregulated mixture. Does it feel flat at low throttle/below 2,500 RPM and lumpy?" That is exactly my problem and it smells very very rich.

Will report back after I order MAF.. any sugguestions on where to buy online?

Thanks again for your help, fellas

Bingo - it's your MAF dude... Unplugging bypasses the MAF.

I'd speak to Vivid or EPL or one of the board sponsors - without those guys non of us would have this place!

Good luck and let us know when you get it swapped out (make sure you have the correct hollow end torx to change as well)

I was looking at speedtech's site and they sell them. Since they are the source of exhaust system, Ill be trying to buy from them. Noone is home today though. Ill try PM.

Let me also mention that the exhaust sounds freaking amazing. I have had tubi, dansk, and fabspeed on my other three porsche's and this is by far the most beautiful sounding system. And it obviously flows well too!

Janker, I cant thank you enough for the help. Hope I can pay you back next time!

Yes, It's the MAF if it cleared up when disconnected.

Nola your maf is donzo , i was going to ask you to unplug it and see how it idles, you can try cleaning it first with special electrical cleaner if that does not work then just get a new one.

I have installed the 70mm Speedtech twin cans (200 cell cats) over six months ago. No problems what so ever. Other than the exhaust and headers, my motor is stock. If you bought it used, you don't know if the prior owner had an ECU flash that might have burned out the cats. There should be no reason to have extension bungs with a stock ECU program.
