clutch problem ? ?
i have owned many stick shift cars..and when the clutch slips due to not being strong enough for the power it usually stinks of clutch...can anyone explain why my gt2 is acting like the clutch is slipping but never stinks.. and it gets better after i make a few slippy pulls... clutches usually only get worse right??? i see no oil under the car... but im starting to suspect rear main seal since it gets better and it never smells ... any ideas?? and what clutch did you go with and what do u like dislike about it?? thanks

Mine never smelled (well occasionally it did) I think because I never pushed the car after it started slipping. It only slipped under boost. I drove it all winter before I replaced it. I replaced mine with a clutch I bought from Kevin @UMW. He sold me some performace clutch for dual mass (feels exactly like stock but hold more power). I love everything about the clutch - pedal fell, engagement etc. Highly recommend. The shop that replaced my clutch also replaced my rear main seal at the same time (covered under warranty).

thanks yeah its only slipping under boost but i beat the snot out of it while its slipping and it never smells and actually stops slipping after a few pulls.... and a friends 997 just made over 500 and it started slipping and it smelled and they got off it right away.... i dont see how mine dosent smell makes me wonder if the problem can be something other than the clutch itself.....
i dunno ... id believe that if i never smelled my clutch but i did when i first got the car...and for what im doing to it while its slipping there should be clutch smoke coming out of the car lol..... and there is nothing not even a hint after slipping in 5th gear and then pulling over real fast opening the hood and sniffing the engine compartment just does not smell at all... and anyways if it is the clutch how does the slipping stop after a bunch of pulls??
I will probably ONLY slip in the higher gears (4th, 5th and 6th) now. When it starts getting REAL bad, it will slip all the time. THEN you will probably smell it. I smelled mine when it slipped...
