Maintenance costs - Gallardo vs Turbo

I know a couple of folks on here also own Gallardos. What's the maintenance like? Obviously more expensive than a 996TT, but how much more? Is it more comparable to something like a Ferrari 360 vs. a 996TT? Are there any expensive problem associated with certain years?

Thanks for the link. I know the 360 can be expensive to maintain, but I was thinking since the Gallardo has a a good bit of German engineering, maintenance costs might be closer to a Porsche than a Ferrari.

If you think the "Porsche Tax" is bad, how much worse is a "Lamborghini Tax?" Both the Ferrari and Lambo do less volume, so the R&D costs need to be divided by fewer units. Both parts and training. (Remember that there are some parts that carry over from the Turbo to the 911 to the Boxster, so the numbers are even greater.) VW sells the Bugatti Veyron at a loss, just for the prestige of it. Imagine what the thing would cost if they were looking to make money on it.

Typical maintenance on a Gallardo is roughtly 2x the costs of a Turbo.

They do run through tires more often, but barely use any brakes. CEL's are typically coked up air tubes on the exhaust system. Nothing else of note really happens to them. The odd E-gear hydraulic issue. Clutches will last as long as you are good to them. E-gear cars run through clutches about 2x as fast as manual cars (the 1st gear takeup is killer). Clutch replacement is 2-3x the cost of the 996tt (this is going by factory parts pricing and labour guides.

A 360/430 is going to be more than the Lamborghini. Roughly 2x the cost maintenance wise. A 355 is FAR more to maintain.

Also, the Murcielago is a fairly expensive and complex car to maintain. But that's another story for another thread.

Thanks for the reply. Is the engine/transmission pretty solid as far as you know?

No common issues. We've got a couple customers that absolutely beat their cars to death with decently high mileage (for a Lambo)
