Tal, the SRX is the 8500 X50 and ZR3 combined into one unit. It is not just a laser shifter, but also a X, K, and KA band radar detector, just like your X50.
Where can I learn more about the SRX? I looked st escortradar.com but, they do not list the SRX. Thanks

Lou

I stand corrected, thank you. But if I remember correctly, the SRX does not have the same internal circuitry as the X50, it uses the old 8500 design. That is, unless they have upgraded it since I looked at it a few months ago.

Escort has discontinued the SRX. No longer available from them directly although you might find it on Ebay or a store shelf.

I found this on a detector web site.

"Both the Passport 8500 X50 and the cordless Solo S2 have sophisticated on-board processors that can be reprogrammed, which means either model can be updated to meet any future radar or laser threats that can be dealt with in the detector software. The Passport 7500S does not have that ability.

The Passport SRX and Passport SR7 remote detectors use detection circuitry based on the Passport 8500, with the Passport SRX adding the "laser shifting" ability of the Shifter ZR3. "

I am very happy with the SRX and would not tolerate a windshield mount anything unless it was clearly superior, and I don't believe it is.

I think you are correct sir. The SR7 has X50 technology as well as the Lazer "shifting". I put one in my Suburban last fall.
