Epl Softronic or Fvd Tune, which one?

Hey everyone just want some opinions here, im a "newbie" to the whole 996tt tuning deal. Coming from a B7 S4, I never thought the minimal extra power of a tune was worth it. However our cars are quite a bit different and can achieve pretty decent power gains from just a basic tune, as a large majority of you on here know.
I'm just trying to figure out which tune to get. any reccomendations or feedback from current owners of these products would be greatly appreciated.

YOu will need to re-tune as you start to add more $ and HP to the car. So be sure and go with a tune where they will do upgrades for you for free or at a great big discount.

Call, email, and call some more. Get to know the tuner, ask and take notes on why they do what they do to get the HP. Ask about upgrades. ^^^
Get to know the tuner.

Do some search in these 996tt forums. I say Protomotive! (But I am biased.)

Get to know your tuner... Some can be flaky and unresponsive, some can be excellent but remember, pre-sale vs. post sale can be a different story... It's a tricky game to get into and there are big $$ at stake. Get to know your tuner and talk to many of their CURRENT and past customers to get unbiased feedback... Good luck but all are credible that you've listed and are capable of good tuning if they provide you with the attention that you deserve as a customer.

Hi J--

Our tunes are crafted in-house on our Mustang 500 dyno, and battle-tested every weekend on the track and street. We have some cool features available, such as a two-step launch control or left-foot braking.

You can flash the car from the comfort of your own garage, or take it to one of our competent installers. Either way, we are here to answer any questions you might have.

Like Kato said, get to know your tuner. Also - get to know your mechanic. A Porsche mechanic will likely have worked with various different tuners and will know which ones give good servic e after the sale. Those are likely to be the ones they recomend. My mechanic like protomotive because he can call them anytime and get answers and tweaks.

I recently bought my Turbo with the Softtronic flash already on the car. Drove 1,200 miles home and I have put another ~150 miles on the car since. No issues whatsoever and the car appears to be making good power while retaining good gas mileage (about 20-21 mpg on the freeway). But as others have suggested, get to know the tuners and go with one you are most comfortable working with.

I'm blown away by my highway mileage; try to do 75-85 I average 26-28 mpg after kit and tune from EPL, even after tracking for the day I averaged 15??

LOVE my EPL tune and the 2 step that came with it. At 7000' of altitude my K16s respond like GT35s and the 2 step gets me out of the hole while others bog.

I'm another one that is a HUGE fan of Tony @ EPL's tunes.. Got one for my 2003 GT2 and it transformed the Car.. PLUS.. I am going to a Billet upgrade for my K24's and I get a 75% credit from my original tune that goes towards my new tune.. Great value for money, great service, great product..

If you have replaced your injectors, the onboard mpg calculation is off. Mine shows 27 mpg but only getting about 16.
