AMS K24 test

Well we finally installed our billet compressor wheel upgraded K24's back on our 996tt. Ready for the results?

The same power as our billet K16's but about 500-600 laggier! Both turbo's made about 570-580whp & 600ft-lbs on pump gas. If the compressor wheel wasn't maxed out the lower backpressure from the K24 larger exhaust side (larger turbine housing A/R and larger exhaust wheel) should increase horsepower. This test tell me that we're maxing out the compressor wheel, not the exhaust side. We've made as much as 680whp on race gas with the billet K16's and I thought that was really good hp given the size of the billet compressor wheel.

So there we have it, sorry for the long wait time!

The same power acheived at the same bar? Any other variables that could skew the results? Would you conclude from this that the 24/18G is a superior design?

Thanks for the candid explanation.

The big expectation about the billet turbos didn't come out as some of us expected, that includes the 2K10 TEXAS mile where numbers for the K16 BILLET turbos didn't come out even for 1/4 mile runs.I know the car brake an axel or something else that, i am sorry don't remember what ecxactly is.
But what i am saying is that the K16 BILLET turbos didn't appear to be stronger then the K24/18g's.

Now the K24 BILLET,that some of us had big expectation, are not much difference between the K16 BILLET.

K16 BILLET really pull faster but the use may be different then K24/18g's IMO

If I have my own facts straight.... the K16 wheel is from a different company... and different design( probably better).... thus may be the explanation.... do not want to pry into a project that's not mine....
just rambling ... thinking out loud..
thanks for sharing
Mark

Those are back to back runs on the same car only a week apart with nothing else changed. Well we've had a K24/18G car on our dyno and the billet K16's are making more power

A properly tuned 18g car can do 60-130 in low 6 with full weight,AWD and 1,3bar with 93octane fuel...Its been months now waiting for a time from a billet K16 turbo car...since they ve achieved more power, they should be in the high fives easily...Are they?

Ams, could you post a dyno comparison between your K16 and K24 billet duo? I'd like to see where torque drops off for both. If i remember correctly, the K16's drop off around 5000 rpm. I'd like to compare that to the K24's.

Torque is going to always drop off at 5000 landjet. HP and Torque usually meet at 5252.

Certain turbos continue to pull hard up to redline, others don't. I know my K16's poop out at the top.

Gonna say I am disappointed, I was really expecting night and day differences here. Back to the drawing board for my turbo upgrades I suppose.
