Dealer trying to screw me?

Year and a half ago I’ve had my front diff replaced (whining). Now 12K miles later at 1500rpm – only in 6th gear a vibration type noise “free play” materialised in front diff (which above 1600rpm) goes away. So, the noise is present only between 1.5-1.6K/rpm in 6th – starting at about 76km/h. I’ve had car checked and the noise is coming from within front diff where cardan shaft hooks into it. Porsche dealer said its cardan shaft - of course they would! WTF? They charged me 200 euros for what they call knocking cardan teeth downwards a bit for a better fit into front diff and told me all sorted. Well, “bollocks” noise was less when I drove off and after 50 miles its back the same again.

I rejected the repair as unsuccessful. As they are saying its cardan shaft, should I let them change it but if noise remains, reject the cardan shaft repair and get them to change diff under warranty?

Additional question; if I’ve had my diff changed by them and it’s still in warranty, could they have mucked up fitment of cardan into front diff to cause my problem. I never heard cardan shaft failing? How should I proceed with them in such case? My front diff runs out of warranty in 3 months.
