How does launch control work on a manual transmission? Wouldn't u just rev and hold the clutch?

 

The car is set to 5200rpm building 3psi of boost at a stand still. You put the car in 1st gear, depress the clutch, and floor it. The car is bouncing off the 5200rpm while making boost (revving does not) and you only have to release the clutch for a better launch. Think of it this way, you are 3psi ahead of the game

Does this system retard the timing when activated or is it just a two step rev limiter activated by the clutch switch?

Can it be added to a GIAC tune?

 

great video and product. Why 5200 rpm? Can the launch rpm be changed or is 5200 the best point determined to launch at? Interesting that this is the point where the hp and tq curves intersect. The launch looked very smooth on video.

 

So Im guessing that black smoke is just a whole bunch of extra fuel being burnt?

 

Very interesting. So the main thing is that you are making boost just by reving the engine ( normally you don't)?
