Yeah, that's another idea. So you gonna loan me yours, right? I can make a trip up there! lol

OK, so I put that used module I got from another 6speeder in again tonight and had a durametric cable. Got these codes. I googled it, but not much out there. Any ideas? What the heck is a DTC?

I cleared the codes and they came right back after cycling the key...

Thanks!

Talking Are you ready for the solution?

Are you ready for the solution? Here is my story. (Don't forget to see the attachments)

· My battery died
· Installed a new battery
· I have Durametric
· I have a new airbag module out of a track prepped 996TT
· Got the same codes in Durametric
· Used Durametric to reset-before and after new module-same errors came back
· Checked fuses/wires/prayed to the Porsche gods
· Got it hooked up to a Porsche diagnostic computer
· Diagnosed the problem to the seat belts
· Replaced OEM seat belts (Vertex Automotive-cheap)
· Initialized the new module to my 2002 996TT
· Reset the codes-no more problems
Now I’m installing a roll bar with Recaro seats and a harness. Do you think I’ll have any problems??!!

**Personally I think the airbag module required an initialization load after the battery drain and it was just time to replace those seat belt sensors.
GOOD LUCK!

That is awesome info! Good to know what 37 and 38 are! My replacement module came out of NA 996, so may be just the coding that needs changed.

I am hoping the other errors are coding as well. That is my next stop - Porsche dealer to have the coding changed and see what happens.

Thanks for posting!!!!! This was a huge help!!!!

I had the same code and was able to clean the contacts for the passenger seat connector under the seat. I used electric contact cleaner then compressed air to dry the connection. Following cleaning and resetting the contacts, I reset the airbag codes and they haven't come back ... yet.

I know I'm not the only one to do this, but I can't find the thread. It may actually have been on the Boxster board. I don't remember, but what I do know is cleaning the contacts worked on my car.

My next step will be to replace the passenger seat receptacle if the light comes back. Since your car is a 2003, TSB 6924 for the airbag should have already been taken care of in production. If not, you'll need to do the wiring harness modification via the TSB.

lol I have been delaying it (lazy)... I have a replacement main airbag module and it still has codes, but different ones. I have to take it to the dealer and have them unlock it and recode it. It just got cold here and I put it off. Will probably be this spring!

So my problem is my airbag module somehow fried itself sitting... Go figure.

OK, so I finally quit screwing around and buy a brand new airbag main module. Took to dealer this morning to code. Still have 37 and 38 - driver and passenger seat belt retractors... WTH. I think there is a conspiracy going on here to get me to buy more parts... They say they coded it correctly and doubled checked after I asked again...

They wanted $800 to get the retractors and replace them. I think I will find out how much trouble and maybe do it myself... I am beginning to wonder what really happened to my car 2 springs ago when it sat at the shop for 2 months... Seems odd that these things just started after the batter went dead. Wonder if the shop hooked up the charger backwards or something. Maybe they just died, who knows...

Anyway, making progress, but hope this next round fixes things! I did notice the new retractor parts are 997, so I bet they had issues...

I had an airbag code for months and months. Had it cleared at my shop many times but it always came back. I mostly just ignored it. Finally I got serious about fixing it and from the codes it could have been one of several possibilities. The cheapest was changing the driver's side seat belt buckle so we tried that first. Cleared the codes after installation and it has never come back.

Ok finally got it all fixed... Took it to dealer, they installed new front seatbelts and tensioner (one piece).

No more light! Not sure the cause of all this. Supposedly the car battery went dead sitting in the shop and then the airbag module died along with these I guess... Sounds fishy, but it is german.

Now back to getting my car ready for a fall DE!
