CA Race Gas Ban
I would be surprised if it isn't a controlled substance. It's the same chemical that makes kids high when they sniff airplane glue.
Regs are near and dear to my heart...so I had a read.
1. Why isn't 109 and 116 considered a 'conforming' fuel??? Is it all leaded? or are there other issues?
2. They do not ban 'race fuel' but ban using non-conforming fuel in any non-race vehicle. robertp has the process down. We need to play games with 'events'... so be it.
3. These are REGULATIONS and not laws- they are not passed nor promulgated by elected officials, but by career bureaucrats with agendas... the public (ie YOU) can complain and write letters.
4. In one passage, it seems to indicate that they define a race vehicle by it's ability to be legally operated on a road: If you can drive it to the race, it is not a race vehicle. This definition seems legally unsupportable.
Unfortunately, the CARB is a very entrenched bureaucracy here.... while I like my clean air, the price we pay as Californians to be on the cutting edge (and beyond) on air pollution policy has gotten well out of hand...

its so funny to be, being in ny, and knowing Calif has the strictest restriction and yet numerous shops, high hp cars are always running around there. I dont know why you guys are complaining have you looked at the LA sunset lately? Its gross, Im in NYC and the air is WAY cleaner.
CA sucks.....I would really like to move to AZ....or back to Ohio.....
Car registration in Ohio costs $30-$50/year....not like in CA....it is a percentate of your blue book value of the car....

This is ridiculous. I am a fuel distributor and sell race fuel also. The costs involved in tracking and complying with these regs will be ridiculous. Even worse, the enforement of these regs are just more governmental costs. Seriously, where do these people come from? Absolutely no logic or intelligence it seems like.
who's going to pay for the Gulf mess now? We are... just like when we bailed out the unregulated ( by the Republican party) banking industry...
Sorry , not to get political but I don't think your Cali problem has anything to do with Democtrats... Or Republicans for that matter...
.... maybe it has to do with the fact that the state of California is in serious financial crisis... and has been for a long time... thus taxing is a way of revenue...
Imagine that we in Chicago are paying the highest sales tax in the country... I do not blame Dems or Rep.... states and local cities are in crisis as well...

California just wants to control people and restrict freedom at every corner. It is called socialism. They are leading the way for the rest of the country. The state is insolvent and if it wasn't for the federal government they would have been bankrupt long before Greece. You can't entitle all people (citizens and illegals) to have what they want and expect those with money continue to fund it. Another reason I bolted. Just think of all the bureaucracy it takes to implement and monitor these programs? It isn't that hard to get around these regs...just become a dealer so you don't have to smog your car, become a federal firearms dealer so you can have 30 round mags, and start a race team so you can have race fuel...heck that is like creating 3 more jobs!
I think I can probably get toluene. But how much toluene would you put in a tank to get what results? Does your flash need to be changed for running high octane fuel?
