Help! - hood and trunk release not activating...
#16
I think your alarm system is at fault because the triggering of the electrical hood release goes through the alarm control unit. If you got a tiptronic remove fuse #B8 and if you got a manual fuse# C3. Also look at the condition of that fuse. .. Just remove the fuse for 10 seconds and back on...
Though I still have the issue - I have tried pulling the emergency cable multiple times, but no luck, I pull quite a lot and I am afraid to increase the power As I think I risk additional damage...
We have tried putting a little weight on the hood and also the opposite, lifting it up a little - unfortunately no luck neither way..
Best Regards,
Mikael

Hello, I do have a 987 Cayman S, No power on the battery, and no reaction when clicking the front hood button.. Then I did open up at the front left wheel to unlock the hood using the emergency, but I was not able to release it. I gaveit a fair/hard tug grabbing it with a plier, but unfortunately no luck ...
Can the alarm system block the emergency release??
Any suggestions on what to do then?

Mine Cayman S is from 2010/2011 and I did hear that the cable was in the left side (when sitting in the car, and standing in front of the looking into the headlights, then on the right).
I took attached picture illustrating the wire I am pulling.
Wire marked in the red box..

The wire you are looking for was a a bare silver cable on the older cars, like a thin bicycle brake cable, with a loop on the end. .It looks like later cas have it on the left and the thing you are yanking on it the right piece. Sorry for my confusion.

Thanks, I will study that article again .
Anyone that has experienced a disfunction/flaw with this emergency release of the frunk/ front hood before? I am worried how to get to the battery without damaging the hood..

^ and if its anything like the one on our cars, you can really give it a good pull, it will not break.. and you immediately hear the manual release of the "catch" as it opens.
i long ago re-routed mine tucked and barely visible just under the pass side headlamp so i can ****** it outa there in an instant if i lose power.

Is the latchitself faulty or just a dead battery? When mine goes dead I just hook a battery through the lighter plug. Even with a disconnected ground cable I was able to get enough juice to pop the latch.
