I avoid it as much as possible, unless it's my Quest mini van.

I knew a guy once that valet his brand new Mustang Cobra a few years back. He was surprised when they called his name out at a club asking him to come to the front. Turns out that the valet guy took it for a joy ride and killed himself in process. IIRC he got a nice Z06 out of that lawsuit.

 

i just pay extra to park it myself, or watch them park it before i go in and ask for the keys

 

I only let the valet at one really nice ($$$) in Malibu park it. The car is parked while I watch, which about 20 feet from the entrance, and I always like to sit outside anyway, so no problem of hearing my car going on any "test drives". A couple of times the valent ask me if a spot he pointed out is okay. If not, he would be more than happy to move the Bentley, Rolls, etc. if I prefer thier spot instead. Talk about customer service.

I do let them park my car... Tip, no stall... and they usually parked her at the front so I can keep an eye on her.

 

I can't believe this is even a question. Who cares what other people think if you park your own car.

I don't want to say it but if you don't care about what other 6speeders think, just don't come to this board.

 

Once at the Hyatt in SF, I tossed the keys of my SL (top down) to the valet. I was only staying for a few hours and when I got the car back, there was a footprint on my black leather driver's seat...

Never again will I valet my cars.

Never.. I give the valet a few extra bucks to be able to park and take the keys with me.
