Price for 60,000 Mile service?

The local dealer is trying to charge me 1600$ for the 60,000 Mile service. Is this reasonable? If so, I'll just do it there. Thanks guys!

Do a search on this but its not that difficult to do yourself if you have a hoist and the proper tools/equipment.

Find an independant - no reason to pay dealer prices.

+1 What Rich said. I did most of the work myself, except a few things and it cost me $500 at the dealer to get the remainded of the work done.

The dealership completed the 60k service on my 996tt just before I purchased it. Dealer price: $5,000 US. The sad part was, I put a new tranny in it only 1100 miles, later.

When we had the motor out, we took a look and saw "all the little things" that the dealer techs did such a half-assed job on that I will NEVER go back to a dealership, again!

Besides, if dealerships did ANYTHING the way they are supposed to, then there would be NO INDEPENDANTS in business. The fact that "indy shops" not only exist, but are thriving, is proof alone that DEALERSHIPS SUCK!!!

Went to "local dealer"...15 bays...2 in use.

Went to a local indy...a line....

I use indy's except for clear warranty work....

and even then, I've had better luck with big indy's than dealers.

Only advantage of a dealer...better lobby and coffee. But, local indy now has kick **** coffee and pizza and wine on Saturday for PCA members/regulars.....ahh.
