Chroming the tips

I have a polished tips and it does not shine anymore because of the weather, chips tend to stick on the tips. So my question is, is chrome stronger than polish? how much do you guys think it will cost to chrome the tips? can I drive the car right away or it needs several days?

If you have a Dremel or other high speed rotating tool, you can polish the tips to look just like they were chromed. Just buy the correct buffing wheel, two grades of polishing compound and have at it. Did both my C-2 and TT tips. Could not tell them from chrome and chrome will eventually rust.
