Is it normal for a LSD to make clicking / clunking sounds ?

My GT2 always made a clicking / clunking sound when going in reverse with the steering wheel turned and if going forward from a standstill with the steering wheel turned. But only when I release the clutch to start moving.
Is this normal ?
My car is a 2003 GT2 with about 13,000 miles now and it has been doing it since day 1 (7,500 miles ago). When I asked the dealership 2 years ago, they said the sound was coming from the LSD and it was normal.
I just want to get a second opinion and to clear my head, Is this actually normal ?

The car runs perfect but the noise is a bit embarrasing. I am just not sure if these cars were designed to make clunking sounds like this..

aftermarket LSD's do this and it's normal. not sure about OEM system, but wouldn't see why not.

My 90% plated ZF did the same. Not on a 911 but same principal.
TBD's dont though. They are very smooth in operation.

I was told LSD gears has larger space for expansion when it gets hot therefore you hear this noise.

While the noise is "normal" you might want to determine if your LSD is actually working...

If you read the thread I linked, you'll see the details of what to look for on a failed LSD.
