To all the moderators!!!
To all the moderators!!!
TO ALL THE MODERATORS!!!
I really don't understand the role of you guys, can you please explain???
Why would you as a Moderator close a thread by saying that it shouldn’t be aired on the forum in this manner in the first instance??
Yet you still post the final comments of others, immediately after, which make the topic even more pointless??
I haven't posted anything since my car was totaled back in Feb, so you can understand that if I'm writing to you then I must feel very strong about this!
For ALL the moderators, why do you let these kind of threads get started anyway, they never end well, no matter who is right/wrong, and personally it is nothing more than airing your dirty laundry until you get enough support from others (who generally have no idea about the topic at hand anyway) and want to chime in to get 30 seconds or better still 3 lines of fame.
Why can’t people contact the person directly and then if no support ask people for opinion/experiences on the forum….like hey I’m having issues with my clutch and LWFW this is the symptoms, any suggests….this what I have checked….also how long should a clutch last on the track or heavy street use…..then what should I check now???
Not…. hey everyone that can read …..I’m having this problem and I installed ***Insert company you bought the product from here**** and now that it’s not working even from the first day I installed it (and now its 1 year+ on) and even though I was having a problem with the gearbox in the first instance, and even though I have no idea why it is happening or even the cause, I am happy to bring the name of the company who's problem it must be and I want to try to get answers by dragging other people who have had bad experiences also with ***Insert company you bought the product from here**** to help support your claims and then, when the ***Insert company you bought the product from here**** comes and explains him/herself, you still are no further closer to your problem and now have (whether you believe it or not) have tarnished the reputation of ***Insert company you bought the product from here**** who is clearly providing a service to people who love cars, and love cars themselves by just providing the service they do.
Whatever happened to courtesy, respect, integrity and given the other guy a break these days, or are we just all happy to hide behind our keyboards, and see people throw mud at each other until some sticks to the wrong person, instead of stopping before we post so we can think of the potential backlash this may cause???? (and yes I do practise what I preach...I expect to **** all the moderators off and some of the guys the thread I am refering to involves...but hey if those involved are intelligent and understanding individuals then this post will hit home and some changes to 6speed will finally occur, making it a better forum, not worse!)
Nothing wrong with searching for the true and a solution, but do it professionally, because (and here is my personal comment on the matter, I have bought, used and recommended ***Insert company you bought the product from here**** many times, without the slightest issue, in fact Porsche could learn a few things from them and I can’t sit back and see people discuss these matters on the forums and with the moderators sitting back and letting it happen…….
I wonder if it would have been stopped earlier if ***Insert company you bought the product from here**** was a PAYING SPONSOR……we wouldn’t want the precious SPONSORSHIP $$$$$$ to be at risk!!!!!! We all know the answer to that question!!
Wonder if my thread will be closed???
So to ALL the moderators…..no actually to the HR department that writes the Job description of the Moderators, do the moderators have one??? If so/or if not…..it needs to written/re-written, so you can stop these types of threads continuing!
PS to anyone who thinks I have taken a side here....I have not (I have not, I can't aford that luxury I just believe it could be handled differently)....I know more than anyone else on this forum (except Mr. White) what it is like to be out of pocket for something that you did not cause and it pisses you off!!!, but no point airing the details for the world to read!

I think you are confusing the mods with God. They often get blindsided by threads and are pm'd by someone that a thread is occurring. To be honest, I think the mods have killed most threads that end up bad. Problem is that they do not hear about them until after several hours or more.
As for treatment of non paying sellers vs paying sellers(sponsors) you probably have a point, but hey, they pay IB's bills. The non paying sellers can always pony up and pay as well to get equal rights.
But I completely agree with you that there is a total lack of professionalism from people who start threads to attack a seller publicly without hashing it out first.
There should be a forum called "The Court Room" where mods, seller and person who feels slighted can hash things out privately without the whole world knowing. The mods can act as a courtroom to help resolve the matter. I think most of our mods have a lot of common sense and are likely not to take sides. This would effectively get rid of all slam fest threads that occur. Make me the mod of this forum and I will deal out punishment harshly, err, I mean will deal with it fairly

, all for getting good outcomes. But sadly, (as my father has said to me before....It might be called a justice system, but that doesn't mean that justice is served. So all I can say is buyer beware and research as best you can, and if something goes pear shaped, try try try try to work it out behind the scene at all costs, because once its on the forums, there is not going to be any positive outcomes.
Are you expecting them to read minds and close a thread before it is started?
The referenced thread about the clutch should have been settled in private, but the mods can only take action after it was made public.

Very interesting question....as a group of mods, a board does NOT want to be in a position to be constantly policing each post... so allowing a touchy subject to unfold a bit so that all members can take note of what is OK and what crosses a line, is often a way to demonstrate acceptable behavior
Personally I think the thread in question was unfortunate, but in the end a education as to when to post, what to post, how a vendor can deal effectively and straightforwardly with a customer in public. I didn't like the mods giving the complainant a free shot and lock, but since UMW isn't a sponsor it seems they pay a bit of a price here for that...
Am I one of those seeking my 3 lines of fame?

Too bad most people don't think that way, Saint... (Although that first rant was a bit long-winded, and a little on the 'crazy' side...
) Like Life, the Internet, for better or worse, is a public forum, where most everyone can stand up and have their say. If the mods are TOO heavy-handed, then they're seen as Das Policia. If they're not active enough...well, go look at VW Vortex or some of the other import boards out there.
I know enough that I can read a few threads, mentally remove the pro and con fanboy posts, and eventually you'll sift out the 'right' information from it. Usually it's a LOT of sifting.
But also like Life, you'll get favoritism, and sometimes people making the wrong decisions. And money ALWAYS talks...

mr. saint...you sure took the long way around but it's all good...it would seem to me that if you have a beef with the moderators your own convention would require you to have taken it private instead of posting it out in the open for everyone to see...frankly, we don't permit the types of threads discussed whether they involve sponsors, members or even non-members...we would like these issues to always be resolved off the board and we do have a "private room" so to speak where the individuals involved and the admins can sort these issues out if they are brought to our attention...as far as permitting Enrique the last word...that was done as a courtesy to him since it was his thread that was closed...however, if UMW had requested any additional rebuttal that would have been posted as well...if anyone has an issue with a sponsor or another member and I guess with moderators according to this thread please bring it to the attention of any moderator or admin rather than posting it in open forum where it will either be closed or removed...since you have included all the moderators in your sermon from the mount, even though this particular instance was my doing, just let me say that all the moderators volunteer their time to make this forum a better place and I for one appreciate every one of them and all that they do....we are not perfect...we are just doing the best we can...we are also very receptive to constructive criticism, although we would prefer that it was in the form of a private message rather than a thread in open forum

Read again, I am pissed they didn't stop the company's name from being mentioned many times (or was I too subtle), and NO not mind readers just on the job earlier, as the posts were two days old.

Fame....maybe but you need to count...you’re at 7 lines, so you really stole the lime light

Long winded.....possibly.....crazy......definitely....t o think it will make a difference here!
Stand up and have your say, and post whatever you like, just don't post names, unless you want to attack the person and discredit their reputation and brand! I don't think you would like someone attacking you online for the world to see, when you have a different opinion about the truth!
That's my point!

Hey Troy, don’t read this bit, it’s too long for you…and you might filter it out too much to get the point I am trying to make.
It is VERY important to state here so as no confusions. I am NOT criticizing the actual people who are the moderators (outside 6speed they are probably top guys/girls), I am criticizing the job they have done, in this situation and a few others, and Chuck, I am not about to point fingers to individual Moderators, as yes some of them are doing a good job, but I can from over the past year give very specific examples of times where Moderators have acted in less than appropriate ways. So it was time to put a grenade out there to get it fix, and if it blows up in my hand so be it, I don’t care about my reputation online, I care about honest, helpful and interesting posts about the cars I love, not all the B$%# S^&%, certainly not threads that go after a supplier.
Ha ha funny (Chuck, even in the face of criticism, you have replied the way a moderator should, well done, I do respect that) but I will say in jest…….
In Private…..well I guess that I’m no better than you guys, but at least I don’t have moderator next to my screen name! So it really doesn’t matter what I do or say, because I haven’t taken on any extra responsibility, so I didn’t need to take the matter privately and more importantly, I don’t expect your reputation to be tarnished and then worry that it will affect your business or the products you sell. Which is my point to the complaint.
So for those that thought my post was too long, here is the shortened version.
DON’T POST PEOPLES NAMES OR COMPANY'S NAME unless you have NO CHOICE and even then UNLESS YOU ARE 100% CORRECT it is not polite or respectful.
IF YOU DO POST A NAME THEN ALL YOU ARE DOING IS ATTACKING THAT PERSON/COMPANY, and I have no problem with people doing that that either (as there is some people who need to be named as they are trying to rip you and others off), but at least be MAN/WOMEN ENOUGH TO ADMIT YOU ARE, not hide behind….I was only trying to get the problem fixed!
End of Rant!
THREAD CLOSED....oops sorry, thought I was a moderator then.
it will not be rehashed here...suffice to say a member made a post that included info about a non-sponsor vendor that was premature to say the least because the actual cause of the problem had not yet been determined...only a mechanic's opinion of what the problem was...had the thread been seen sooner it would have been closed or removed...it is time for this one and since Saint couldn't close it I'll do it for him...Steve if you are that curious do a search or pm me or any of the others in this thread..
