anybody have any idea of how much slower a CGT or enzo would be on a track than that beast? this car would certainly handle better, w/ slicks and track-prepped suspension and aerodynamics, but the enzo and cgt, on some hoosiers.........
The M3 GTR is a purpose built race car. Comparing it to an Enzo or Carrera GT is silly... There is no comparison.. The M3 GTR is built without compromise........ Its sole purpose is to go fast.
The others are super exotics....
We have used the same chassis BMW Motorsport M3 as the basis for our Speed World Challenge Touring Cars.. While the M3 GTR new was about 450k they could be had for less. If you were one of the few lucky teams that BMW Motorsport recognized.
Engine program was through BMW Motorsport you were not allowed to dissasemble the engine for rebuilds although they needed to be freshened every 30-40 hours depending on if you were running a sprint or endurance format.By contract you had to send the engine to BMW for freshening.
Just as a comparison our World Challenge Touring Cars cost about 175k each to build.

I love the whine of the straight cut gears, It makes every gear sound like reverse. MY r32 skyline gtr Drag car has the HKS tranny like that. You only need to use the clutch in 1st gear to launch and after that you just bang it into gear. Of course it needs to be rebuilt every 1500 miles.

V8 muscle for next BMW M3
29/04/2004 09:46
The first V-engined BMW M3 is on its way! The next M3 will get a potent V8 engine and sources say it will be launched towards the end of 2005.
According to Auto Express the 4-litre V8 M3 will have a power output of about 300kW. It will accelerate from 0-100km/h in less than five seconds and top speed will be limited to 250km/h.
Auto Express says the M3, which will be a four-door sedan, will be easy to distinguish from the normal 3 Series. It will have killer looks with a larger front bumper featuring a will width airdam. The car will also get 20-inch wheels.
The performance coupe and cabriolet versions, which will be badged the M4 according to BMW's new naming policy, will also get the same V8 engine. The M4 will go on sale later in 2006.
BMW's new name strategy uses even numbers for two-door, coupé and cabriolet models and the uneven numbers are reserved for four-door sedan, five-door hatch and touring models.
Insiders say that there will be lightweight CSL version of the M3/M4 as well. To reduce weight it will feature aluminum panels, carbon fibre trim and all heavy components like air-conditioning will be removed.
