Surprises and now I need a better intake!
I recently purchased a 996tt that I knew had some mods, but the previuos owner didn't know much about them. So I finally had the car up on a lift today and it was like Christmas! I discovered that, in addition to the ECU flash I already knew about, I have a full Milltek header/cat/exhaust setup and Bilstein pss9 coil overs! I know that I should have had a PPI, but there were many reasons that it didn't happen. Anyway, at least the surprises were pleasant ones.
Here's where I could use some help. With such a good exhaust it seems silly that the car is drinking through a straw with the stock intake. I've looked around and read through many threads but I'm looking for some additional advice for a relatively easy DIY project to open up the intake. The fabspeed intake looks like it would help things quite a bit to start. I'm not ready to do a massive overhaul of the intake for many reasons, not the least of which is the cost.
Any suggestions?

replace the filter with a K&N panel for now (but check that there's not already one in there first, red filter material color, think the stock one was yellowish)

It does have the K&N filter installed. It sounds like there isn't much of a reason to do anything else for now. The stock turbos get all of the air they need through the stock air box?
Is there a better than stock filter available that you don't oil? I'd keep the stock airbox.

Kevin at UMW, a/k/a Yoda of the Turbo, recommends stock air filter. I switched back to that after I installed Kevin's Stage 2A kit.
