whats the latest on giac??
+1 for EPL. Very strong and smooth.

I spoke with Austin at GIAC and he was very helpful. My GT2 has an early tune and the pump gas mode was giving me trouble. Austin said that they have a updated tune for my car and GIAC would update my ecu for little or no cost. I have been a little busy but I will be taking him up on the offer shortly.
Great customer service.

Which companies all do the trade in program on the tunes besides GIAC? That's really cool to hear. I didn't realize that but that's probably because I'm a newbie. Time to get an ECU tune.
I have had several iterations of the GIAC programs. Have always been 100% happy with the product. Obviously I'm a fan
Here is what my car did at an independent DYNO facility back in the day with an off the shelf K24 file I got installed at Lucent in 2006. The only supporting mods were Exhaust, Wastegates and Divert er valves. The car was running 91 octane

I understand that everyone has their favorite tuner but consider the following:
GIAC offers a handheld switcher that allows you to go from "stock" boost, PUMP (flashed), Race program, Kill and Valet Modes. This is much better than using an EBC because
1. The computer does not lose control of boost control and retains essential safety mechanisms to protect the engine. Like if you get a bad tank of gas.
2. The race file can run more boost AND timing to optimize race gas and can change other parameters like throttle to pedal ratio...
GIAC has programs for the Hitachi MAF upgrade that keeps all other parts intake tract totally stock. The Hitachi MAF starts to make a lot of sense by time you get near the top of the K24 capability. Not only does it efficiently read air flow at these levels, but it won't overtax the stock MAF and blow it all the time.
GIAC's fist and foremost concern is reliability and durability. I don't believe I have ever heard of a GIAC engine blowing on this forum.
Yes GIAC dyno tuned my car with the latest mods, but in the end I ended up with their standard 60lb injector, intercooler, Garret GT28 file. The car has 4 maps for every setting and "hunts" up to the most aggressive map. I'm not quite sure what custom tuning can really do beyond this.
One thing I have learned is that physically setting up the car is very important at these power levels. It turned out that my wastegates were too loose for example the last time I was there. It really helps to have someone who knows these cars doing the wrenching. I think it's all too easy to blame the tune sometimes.
GIAC supplies the programming to Champion Motorsports and is tuning force behind "war Admiral"

Love you to death but you, my friend are in the "dark ages"
Call Sharkey and get your car up to speed !
i cant speak for anyone else but i know when u get a protomotive tune to make any changes big or small its 365$ to rewrite the tune.
Steve, I suggest upgrading your wastegates. There is a noticeable increase in boost response. The car will feel like you flashed it all over again.
That said, if you decide to change tuners, make sure and give us your impressions.

his wastegates are not a problem, I am sure. UMW mods the wastegates.
Steve, do you have durametric?
Just log some runs for GIAC and send them the files. they should be able to customize you a bit better and give you an updated file. Might cost a little bit, but it may be cheaper than going somewhere else. Ask them what they want to see from the logs.
Steve, I'm assuming you are running 91 octane? I think you shoudl see 1.2 BAR.
Ask Kevin if you have upgraded wastegate springs.
Also, GIAC's "race" file really does make a difference. I suggest getting that and adding 10 gallons of Sunoco 104. It's a hoot for those days when you really want to it to go.
