They are truly in a different league.
Absolutely. 500 wheel is a good place to be in a street car. You basically don't need any supporting mods either except 5bar and a tune, clutch will also let you know about itself before too long. Mine slips if I powershift 2nd and 3rd. My car already had the K24s so for me the 18Gs are a logical next step.

18G hybrids are easily making 100+ whp over my setup. Not even going to mention the USP E85 car that is strapping 145mph with K24/18Gs.....which is insane.

Back to the OPs question. I am not aware of what it costs to do the K24s, and honestly if he can get a good deal on some K24s I would recommend them. If he is going to pay "new" or "retail" pricing I would say pass on them and go to better units.

Powerwise my best pull was 516rwhp, so if that's your power goal and the price is right - go for it.

Yep I'm perfectly aware of the flow rates of the various turbos... lots of threads here about it in the past.

Additionally, I note that Todd@Proto has previously commented as follows, "We find that the 996tt engine produces about 9.25hp/lb/min of air, so a stock k24 with 30lbs/min of air times two of course can make about 30x2x9.25=555hp at the crank before it runs out of air and maintains some sort of efficiency"

It runs about $1300 to have both K24s converted into K24/18Gs, that price includes the new wheels and upgraded wastegates.

Keep in mind you will also need injectors and a retune.

I ran my 18g without injectors. I just used a 5 bar and Todd was fine with that. The caveat to only running a 5 bar is you don't want to go above 1.35 bar on race gas with it.

If you upgrade the injectors can you go above the normal 1.1-1.2 bars on 93?

(Sorry if it's a Noob Question I'm trying to educate myself as much as I can before I pull the trigger, Thanks Guys)

The advice given to me by my tuner was to run up to 1.1 bar on 93. If I used 100 octane then I could go up to 1.35 bar.

Does anybody have overlapping dyno charts on k24 vs k24/18 at the same boost level ? ie, at 1.1 bar will the 24/18 make more power, or just around the same but way sooner? Nice to see some charts on 28A as well....

I have K24/18G's with full supporting mods, including additional fuel pump and injectors. I have a 93 octane 1.32 bar EPL tune that is awesome. Tony is confident that I can run 1.4 safely on 93 octane and I am considering it. There is a big difference in feel going from 1.2 (which is where I was previously) to 1.32 bar. I know 1.4 bar would really be nice! There is a difference in tunes, some prefer more boost less timing and some add more timing and cut boost back.

I made the switch to K24's a few years ago, I currently have UltimateMotorWerks 2c which are the K24/26's. PRCHE951 has nearly the identical setup, but his has the 16's, his car feels violently faster than mine, but in reality whoever gets the jump will take it.

The one thing you will notice, max boost is at about 3800 (pending intake, etc) which is 750-950rpm higher than the 16's. Depending how you look at it, it can be an advantage or disadvantage. I have a ton of power in the upper rpms and yet very drivable in the lower, whereas the 16s are torque-ier down low but run out of steam quicker than the 24's. I guess it comes down to your driving style and where you want the peak power.

Something else to think about, both f our systems are detuned to save the rods, however the 2c has more potential through the rpm given a rebuild.

Hope this helps.

A28s will give you better spooler and more top end potential, not to mention a more efficient unit.

I already have K24s on the other hand so most likely my next step will be an 18g+injectors setup, just because it is cost effective.

My car made 508-516rwhp on a dynojet on K24s, 1.1bar, 93 octane, FVD tune, cargraphic exhaust, everything else stock.
you made 508-516rwhp on stock K24's or 24/18?

How are 18G's compared to FVD's K24/K26 Racing Turbo's performance wise?
