How do you reset the airbag light?

I took my steering wheel off to replace it with a different wheel and I now have an airbag warning light that stays lit. Do I have to go to the dealer for this? Or is there a way to avoid a trip to the dealer?

Thanks!

Try disconnecting the battery for about 30 mins, works for CEL, may possibly work for Airbag.

Has to be done at the dealer. You will need to run the belt or make a jumper for the harness. You can only unplug the belt if the ignition is off. If you turn it on while working and the belt is not present then the light will flip on and lock. Only the dealer or someone like us using the Baum setup can clear the codes.

Dealer may charge you as well. I was charged 60.00 to reset the light when I switched over to the GT3 seats.

Hit the dash board with a hammer. That shoud take care of the problem.

Sometimes with all those lights I feel like hitting my head with the hammer or just taking out all the light bulbs.

Ignorance can be bliss. I know because I'm married with kids

Airbag light

My 2002 996 TT recently had the airbag light come on. I took it to my dealer and they had to replace the "airbag control unit."
