996tt to a audi a5 or s5?
anyone here have an Audi A5 or S5? I have been tossing the idea around of maybe selling my 996tt to get an Audi being the Audi is more of a everyday car... I dont use the 996tt much, dont like leaving it with valet and also try avoiding certain parking lots,so the 996tt does not get much use..
Before I took a beating on a swap to a boring car, I'd stop treating the 996 as anything other than a car. I drive mine every day. Rain, snow, nothing stops it. I've owned it 18 months and put on 20,000 miles.

While I don't hand it off to valets, I do use it as my daily driver, top down rain or shine, WOT every time I get in it one way or another - couldn't imagine going to something "less". I also like every new AMG, BMW, Audi, or Subaru owner with a fart can exhaust thinking they can have "a go" at the old man in the dirty ragtop as I wave buh-bye on the outside corner pass, with the howl of air being gulped at peak power around 1.3 bar as we hit the straights, watching them get smaller and smaller in the rear-view mirror.

That was my exact thought.

It has nothing to do with value$, my car is lowered.. T/A style nose..low.. 19" tires.. in Florida not a problem using it daily, but in NY (long Island) the roads suck, pot holes.. etc.. car would not be the same.. . Even if the car was worth 300k or 30k, Im just thinking of the abuse it will take on the roads here... an Audi would be just easier to drive and deal with the roads, weather, parking etc, so much better... but as you guys pointed out... I know I would miss my 996tt after the audi newness wears off... it was just a thought...
Seems like your answer is to just raise the coilovers up for clearance and enjoy your car. Im looking at a4/a6 as a supplemental car to do childseat duty while the 996 does fun duty. As a replacement its a pretty big downgrade.
I wouldn't do it.
Although the Audi A5/S5 are very nice, they just don't compare in terms of overall feel.
I've driven the S5 a few times and was impressed, never "WOWed" like the first time I drove the 996tt.
