I just had an extra made for mine. You can order the key and remote fob from the dealer. You need to pay in advance. The keys are cut only in Germany and it takes a few days. Once the key has arrived at your dealer, you'll need to have the remote programmer to the car. This is .5hrs labor at most Porsche dealers.

Expect to shell out ~$415 including programming.

$350 here in Wisconsin. You can go cheap by cutting your own with a blank. But remote and programming is what is going to cost you more.

I just replace my fob, my local mechanic was able to program for me. He showed me where from factory car is coded with 2 keys with id code #'s, valet id and then 2 blank spares, he have to give Champion the vin # and they sent an fob with a id code #, from there he programmed to the car. I wonder what happens if both spares are already used?? A local P dealer was able to cut a key for my old 996 cab that I sold to my nephew and the same local mechanic programmed fob to car?? Didn't have to send to Germany??

without a key they have to order it so it will take a half week or week to get it. then just tow it in and have them program it. Its around 400 for the key and they program it for free... I just asked my dealer last week.

yup that is what it cost. i had an extra fob and valet key made when i got my car. just cost of purchase.

JB

PS Dont drop the keys in a puddle. end of it when it gets wet. I usually carry a ziplock bag in front door for the really rainy days. and trips to the ocean.

Don't feel bad. I remember doing the same thing with my '91 C4. I looked for days, almost gave up.

Found it in the ignition..........doh!
