My first race on the freeway last night against a 2005 vet... I have got to admit that machine had some power and speed...

Hit about 115 mph.. i know thats not much for some of you guys but I was scared... ha ha.

Raced from burbank ca to valencia... we even exited the same street... cool guy..

Does anybody know what the vet has... he kept up with me and sped past me several times... I did beat him with acceleration..

As some of you can tell... I am not a true racer... I have a tt 500hp...

 

I finally got to take a look at one close up last night. It looks like a total piece of crap up close. I guess you do get what you pay for!!

 

What year Vette was it, or at least which model C5, C6 other???

 

his post says 05 so I guess it's a C6

So the base C6 is pushin 400hp and 400 lb.-ft at a curb weight of 3180 lbs

 

I think they look good. It is a clear cut improvement over the C5.

 

I just ordered one this am, 6 speed w/Z51 option see my thread posted below.. I drove it and it is very fast and for 44k you can not beat it!

 

I own a 2005 C6 Corvette, 2001 Stage IV TT, C-GT and a Boxster S. I think the 'vette is cool, but it can't keep up with any of the Porsches in any way you measure it!!!

The Porsches are all more "fun" and much more engaging to drive.

The good thing I can say about the 'vette is that it only cost $50,000 and I don't mind "beating" it.
Actually, the sound of the American engine being stomped on is pretty cool, too!

Chuck what a collection u have...but one note a stock TT or a Stock Boxster vs a Vette please...a new Vette will tear the Boxster a new ahole in acceleration, handling is another story. As for the TT it is about neck to neck to 100mph with a C-6 vette you r cars are modded you can not compare. Always Apples to Apples not Apples to Oranges. For all this the new C-6-Z06 is going to be tough to beat in any P-Car. While yes I agree Vettes are beaters you can not do better for the $

I am not sure about that... the Boxster S is pretty amazing and where do you get to do straight line, hard acceleration for very long anyway? I think I could "hang" with most normal, spirited driving!

The Corvette feels like a big boat! It is not nimble feeling at all. It feels more like a muscle car.

When you press the accelerator pedal on it..it even pauses or hesistates before it winds up. The Porsches just go!!! I agree the Z06 should be incredible. I can't decide whether to put my name on one or not.

I also ordered the Z06 for my buss partner.

 

I raced a ZO5 with some modds at the 1/4 track... 3 times... he lost all 3 races... his best time was 12.4 @117mph

 

What mods did he have, you have stage IV on your Turbo...once again a stock turbo to as stock vette is about a dead on race...

 

What is a Z05?

 

I also have one on order. I got Z51, 1SB and nav. Can't wait!!

I am very impressed by the car and for the price, well, you know.

I think the fit and finish are decent too. The paint, however, needs to be gone with the orange peel.
