I personnally have mounted tires on both wheels and seen them after some miles were put on them. The HRE's are a much stronger wheel. The SSR's are very easy to bend. Most of them were not even round when brand new.

Wow, that's a pretty wild claim. SSR has been around a long time, and has a reputation for making a strong wheel for their weight. In fact, I've only heard positive things about them.

Being twice as expensive often assures exclusivity, but it doesn't necessairly make a less expensive wheel to not be a quality product. I guarantee there are way more SSR wheels on race cars than HRE's. Doesn't make it better or worse, but just the fact.
Basically, HRE makes is a premium street wheel manufacturer. SSR is more of a mainstream wheel producer that makes light wheels for their weight. While they do have overlapping applications, such as the SSR GT3 for the 996T, the two manufacturers' intended target audience is pretty different.
IMO, the SSR GT3 is a good looking wheel that looks right at home on a 996T. It's been around a long time, and has been an old fav. For those who need more bling factor, they'll naturally gravitate to the HRE. Different wheels for different folks.

WOW!! Those look awesome. Does your fender stick out farther than the wheel. The offset on the SSR's is very conservative and just don't want the wheel to be inside the wheel well when I lower the car. Also, is the lip really bright?? In pics of the SSR's the lip never looks as bright(polished) as that on the HRE. Thanks
