Going from 16G to Billets

I am currently considering going from the regular 16G (I had mine done by Vivid) to Billet 16G. I currently have Agency exhaust and I/Cs, Softronic tune, DVs, EBC and a 5bar.

If I go to the billet, I would also add injectors.

I am guessing this will cost about $5k.

I don't think any other tiptronics has done this change. I would just go with bigger turbos, but I do not want to deal with transmission issues.

What do ya'll think?

Thanks!

i don't think the incremental diff is worth the retune. if you are going add turbos ---- really add turbos i would say.

I think your going to waste money. If you want more power, go with the K24/18G or Garrett GT2860s, injectors, intercooler piping, 2nd fuel pump. The problem you will always have is the tiptronic power capability. That is just my opinion, just want you to be happy. So before you make ANY changes, find a local car to drive in or see its dyno results. Because different dynos and environments will show different numbers which may not be any better then what you really have now.

Boost Logic 54mm Billet kit... Should give you enough power to keep the tip alive and still really kick ***!

I would reach out to Todd again. He is one of the only people that really put the tip through paces.

I think going to billets would be a step backwards. Go with 24/18gs if you want to max out your transmission.

A k16 billet are a 7 blade wheel... it's a good turbo... but you already have a 16g.. and mind you, a turbo is as good as its hot side... to run that turbo you need injectors and a decent amount of boost... ( I know because Ive had a few sets of those billets on our 30rs and 35rs....)... thus boost for boost your not going to blow your current system away(so why waste $5K as you say).... If you want I can show you invoices of the 3 different kits I bought between 2002 and 2005.. they all were k24 based hybrid turbos promoting as the next best thing... well, $30K later I found out that the truth was a lot closer then I thought... the 10s I was supposed to run and trap of 130s were no where near... thus I learned the hard way...
being a vendor I can sell you whatever you want... Tial? 18gs?, 800hp kit? but I will tell you one thing- your wasting your money.... if your going to do a upgrade you need to address a few issues like Fuel, turbos, tune specific to kit...
Remember that no matter what you do your K-XXX turbo be it a 16g or whatever its still small... its when you get into a gt28 , 18g, 20g, tials 28s, etc is where you will see any real HP gains... then the next the is the gt30r set ups...
If you like your car leave it alone... run some 100 or 104 octane... turn it up .1 to .2 bar and call it a day.... had you had a stock car then I would say go for the k16 billets....
just my opinion,
good luck,
mark

I also think it's a waste of money to switch one tiny turbo for another tiny turbo and put out 5k to do that.

You can sell your 16Gs add your 5k to whatever you get for the 16s, buy K24/18s, injectors and retune. Or you can get the Tial 28s injectors and a tune...I dont know if you can get the most out of them with an automatic, but you will have a lot of headroom in your setup.

What they said...But when you get your new turbos, I'll buy your old, worn out, tiny, used, almost worthless 16G's...PM me if you do, Thanks.

I would say go for big power (with all the bells and whistles), or live it alone.
