Rear intake pipe for tip car???
You have an airbox that feeds air into an aluminum plenum, from there, 2 really ugly hoses/ducts route air down behind the engine between the engine and firewall to each turbo on each side of the engine. From the turbo, air is compressed up 2 rubber hoses to the intercooler (the hoses by the back tires that you can see) and then through the 2 rubber hoses you see in your engine bay to the aluminum Y pipe to the throttle body.
The part that VividRacingTX is talking about is the piece going from the plenum to the turbos?
For some reason I thought the plenum and TB were connected.
The words "plenum" and "intake" are used very liberally around here, but are 2 very different parts on this car...
You won't realize the full potential of those mods until you do the back piping...
There is a work around... you can get a set of those big old (i meant new) ICs from Markski which has the air filter right behinds the IC, then you don't need that ugly ducts no more; but this may be an overkill.
That also requires a different MAF and a very different tune, not very straight forward...but can be done.
Thank you for bringing that up, I know it won't be that easy.
You have two ways to go :1-you do what MY996TT advice you
2- you get a 996TT 6 speed
lets say for $1000 you get aftermarket intake replacement...
For $2995 you get not only the intake plenum which is superior to the stock set up... ( we have tested and found cars to spool up at least 400 rpms faster)
then you get a big mouth Y pipe... 2 side pipes all with 2.5" connections to ICs... then you get a maf, a custom bench flown tuning tube, the harness... all the silicone connectors T bolt clamps, etc.,.. a set up thats on 1200rwhp cars...
and the intake, plenum, maf, etc is good for whatever turbo you will stick in there... mind you that other tuners with high HP cars have been using the filter above the ICs.. not just us....
So all in all you get so much more.. because when you start adding Y pipes, side pipes.... hoses and other solutions to complete the Y pipe... mafs etc... your way beyond the $2995 list price... but yeah you do have to go with our tuning... not bad though that you actually have a maf that reads 3900Kg/hr vs 1500kg/hr at 5 Volts... imagine how you can tune for it...
BTW, I do recommend the intake you guys are describing as a great upgrade... I had one I know...
this is what I make...
