Those of you that removed cats from the exhaust
Those of you that removed cats from an aftermarket exhaust
Hello guys,
seems that I need your help once again...
So I bought an EPL flash, and really want to go catless. The problem is that my Fabspeed exh. has 200cell's and has no v-bands or flanges, it's all welded.
So I need some advice on how to remove the cats...
I may cut the section with cats and replace it with straight pipe and weld bungs for O2's on it, but the eaxhaust diameter is 2.5" while the turbos outlet is 3"....I will need a reduction in this case..
Or I may torn off the cats inside the exhaust and leave it as is on the outside, no welds, no cuts, no reductions. How would you procede in this case?
Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks again!

I would look around for another exhaust instead of hacking up a fairly nice exhaust, just in case you want or need to back to a cat. Maybe have Speedtech or Markski whip something catless up for you? Probably be reasonable as the cats are what cost the most usually...

But I see myself going down the slope....I liked the car stock...then I wanted some more sound and bought an exh....then I thought " why not a flash"....then I want to go catless.....now I may buy another exhaust.....
O my god...
I have to say it is fun though...only my pocket will not be happy if I don't stop this bug.
Guys you put me on the bad road!I should have sticked to those conservative Italian Porsche forums...ahah.
People buy souvenirs when visiting other countries, I'll end up with a pair of turbos and I/C in the bag when I'll get there for my holidays in October...

And after being there at the TX mile it will get worse!
I bought my car to stay stock (MAYBE a tune after the aftermarket warranty was up)... That lasted... eh 3 months??? Look where I'm at 3.5 years later... Damn you 6speed!!!! LOL!!!!

I drilled mine out on my old speedtech 70mm. It's a pretty similar system to the fabspeed. I highly recommend doing it and will be doing it to my new speedtech. You can feel the power and hear the turbos much better. It took me a couple of hours for the first one and about 1 hour for the second one.
Technique is to get the best drill bit you can in 1/2" and make an "X" in the cats. Then just go to town with a hammer, drillbit, and pliers.
Your turbos will appreciate it for sure.

Yes. I did the same on my Cargraphics. Drill 4 holes. Use a powersaw with a long blade to saw though and get big chunk square section out. Now use long chisel/pry bar and saw to finish the job. Not very hard job. Total 2-3hours.
I use a airhammer, some pry bars and a big *** hammer and knocked all the honeycomb out of my cats.
This would be an option...

here is something to ponder about...
