The Six Pack: A Biography
The Six Pack: A Biography
Before you guys start flaming, listen up....PorscheBabe has been talking to a magazine regarding various articles and one of them is a short write up about "The Six Pack". For those that don't know, "The Six Pack" is our little clan here in New Jersey. We are friends and driving buddies. She asked me to write up a short biography for the article. This is what I came up with. No flames please!!
The Six Pack: A Biography
Eclectic, multi-national, multi-gendered and lovers of all things Porsche. This is the quintessential embodiment of “The Six Pack”.
“The Six Pack” you ask? What is “The Six pack”? Where can I get one? We aren’t talking about beer. Nor are we talking about carburetors. We are talking about six very special people with six very special automobiles.
“The Six Pack”, ladies and gents, is comprised of five guys and one girl that make up a group of Porsche aficionados, or better known as Porschephiles.

Coming from various backgrounds and histories, this motley crew came together because of their undying love of driving and, more importantly, driving Porsche 911’s. What brought them together? Well, that is the interesting aspect of this relationship.

This website, formed a little over a year ago, was created by three visionaries that saw a need to create a vehicle through which Porschephiles could communicate, share, plan and relate to each other on all aspects of Porsche automobiles. It was “driving meets”, organized through this website, that The Six Pack friendships were formed. All of The Six Pack members have 911’s. The guys have Twin Turbos, the lady, a normally aspirated version. One thing they all have though, is mods. Yes, modifications. We are not talking about steering wheel covers and air fresheners here. We are talking about performance modifications that defy reason! Each of the twin turbo cars is producing over 600 horsepower. Aerodynamic mods proliferate the pack as well as a host of other modifications including brake upgrades, exhausts, turbos, shifters, wheels, tires, suspensions, interiors, audio/video systems, etc. The list is extensive and ever changing. Ever changing because they are all known to be “modaholics”. Remember, the first step towards recovery is admitting you have a problem! Besides the exorbitant costs of the cars alone, the modifications add anywhere from $30,000 to $70,000 more cost to the cars. Crazy! Crazy enough to stuff the eyeballs into the back of your skull with the brutal acceleration of these beasts. Acceleration on par with that of NASA’s own Space Shuttle. Deceleration so lethal that one must take care not to have their seat belt permanently impregnated into their chest. Tire grip so tenacious that mere mortals would fear to explore their limits. The cars are crazy, the group is crazier. Within, politically correct reason; they explore the limits of these beasts regularly. Numbers like 3.5 and 187 come to mind. Think 0-60 and top speed. This group drives and drives hard. Nothing more needs to be said.
More important than the collection of machinery, are the people. From left to right, we have Michele, Bill, Ken, Sean, Ron and Tony, or in other words….The Six Pack. The friendships that have ensued with this joining have been extremely gratifying. They look out for each other, both on the road and on a more personal level as well. They share a love for their driving, their cars and each other.
So, the next time you are out for a drive and you notice the distinctive look of a 911 in your rear view mirror, DO NOT BLINK!!
Because, if you do, you will miss an opportunity to see and experience “The Six Pack”.
Coming soon to a road near you.
