How to remove headlight tray

My passenger side headlight tray is broken. I got a replacement, now I just have to figure out how to install it.

Do I have to remove the wheel well liner to get at it from underneath or can I just unscrew from above? I am worried about removing/unscrewing the wrong thing and messing up the light possition/alignment.

Thanks!!!!
Ashley

I need the answer too, but am pretty sure you can do it without major surgery.

Don't know the answer, but just wondering how you broke the headlight tray?? Was the headlight loose and bouncing around? Did it get hit from underneath?? Sorry, just can't figure out why it would break.

The tray was broken when I bought the car. Found out when I went to take out the headlight. The light was in there solid, but the bar that holds it was moving around.

I replaced the tray this morning (thanks to the help of Autodynamica!!). It was very simple. Three nuts removed from the top of the tray (2 large, 1 small) and that's it. You have to take a spacer/bumper off the front of the old one and put it on the new one. There is also a round rubber washer/gasket that seems to be stuck to the old tray so I will have to get a new one of those.

I got my replacement tray from Automobile Atlanta. You can find pretty much any part on their site. FYI, the tray is just the tray. The metal bar, retaining clip, etc. are all separate.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.

Ashley

I "THINK" the back of the tray has the bracket that hold the wire harness that the back of the light slips in to. My bracket cracked when I went to re-install my light. Now the contacts barely meet and my light comes on and off.

Yep, there is molded in bracket for the harness built into the tray.
