... I don't know about funny... First, the cop should not have been in the passing lane - second, passing on the grass is usually a very bad idea - but I think that was very well demonstrated.

He may have been radioed that a speeding car was coming and tried to get in the way to intercept? Obviously the driver had other ideas...again...well documented ideas...

Rumor is that he was just released from prison 20 minutes before the wreck.. and he survived.
Brendan S. Eden 19, of Mason, Ohio had a really, really bad day yesterday. The teenager lost control of his car and slammed into the concrete pillar of a bridge south of Indian Tipple Road. The force was so intense, that the car broke into three pieces as Brendan was thrown violently into the air.
The crash on Interstate 675 shut down the southbound lanes for over six hours as officer and paramedics cleaned up the mess.
“He went down into the median, into the grass, hit the guardrail, went airborne and the car hit the center post of the bridge and literally exploded into three main pieces,” said witness Mark Riley.
Police said Brennan was alert and conscious after the crash and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by Care flight where he was last listed in critical condition.
They are still investigating the crash trying to determine the driver’s speed and why he was passing cars on the berm. According to State Highway Patrol Lt Marty Fellure… “He is very lucky to still be alive at this point. You can see behind me the impact he took and where he got ejected and landed, he’s a very fortunate man right now.”
Hell, if this isn’t proof that you shouldn’t use excessive speeds while driving, I don’t know what is.
