What is the best daily driver???
Hi, I have the opportunity to change my 2004 Cayenne TT with 65,000 miles for a 2001 911 TT with 26000 miles. It will be used for a daily round trip of 50 miles. Do you guys think it can be used as an reliable daily driver.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Absolutely. I dearly love the CTT especially for daily use. Do both if you can and have children/wife/pets/etc... that need attention. If not the only bad thing I can see with the 996TT is driving in VERY deep snow and lack of cargo room. As I always preach.... keep up on maintenance and you'll go far.
Look, I’ve had my 03 TT X50 for 10 months and have driven it over 20000 miles: by the end of the first 12 months I’ll have put about 25000 miles on it. Rain, snow, ice, sun, etc: it’s a car that I love to drive: it looks pretty sitting in the garage, but I get a bigger smile when I drive it than I do when I stare at it.
Grocery runs, occasional daycare runs (2 children), the TT does it all. It’s a very solidly built car that has given me zero problems over my nearly one year of ownership (after all we are talking about a 7 year-old car). Obviously be ready to keep up with the maintenance and with tire replacements.

I just put 3,306 miles on my 03 X50 in 8 days. I drive it daily and have put over 14,000 miles on it 11 months. It is by far the best DD you could ever own!
Get a PPI done, drive it, do your research, drive it again, then buy the 996TT.

This is great you have convince me; I have children also so knowing the car can deal with them is important
. I really want this car since I was a young boy, maybe its the right time now......
3,000 plus miles in 8 days wow
that for me will be like running the car from one end of the island to the other like more than 20 times
. Thanks for the input.
, do you know about the Bermuda triangle right
.
Mine is my DD and I live in Iowa, not known for the best weather. As said before, the only challenge is that I need reasonably plowed roads.
It's a great DD. Now, that said, the back seat is, to me, useless for anyone over 4 years old. With the kids, we take my wife's E55 -- also an amazing DD.

haha.. I'm going against the grain here. I have had a CTT and a 996TT at the same time.. no way would I drive 996TT daily when I had the Cayenne in the garage. I now have a range rover sport s/c and a 996TT. Again.. same answer.
Thing is.. you'll drive the 996TT A LOT. But there are times when you want something a bit more subdued.. quiet.. practical. I have the choice of both.. so different from your scenario. But if I HAD to get rid of the Rover and drive the 996TT daily.. I'd be second guessing myself.
Think about it.. you wont be able to not modify the 996TT. Its just not possible. Its like not staring at a hot girl. You'll throw an exhaust on there.. maybe wheels... that car becomes louder and more tempting. I don't know man.. good luck!!
