Help - strange sound while driving ** update **

When I am driving, I hear a slight "woop woop woop" sound that speeds up as I accelerate.

The tires were changed and the wheels are properly balanced. The steering doesn't shake, everything is fine from that standpoint.

It occurs while rolling - clutch in or clutch out. Any ideas? Brakes are fine, no weird scoring on the rotors.

Could it be the differential? No weird noises while turning ... It really sounds like tires but they were switched and the noise hasn't dissipated

Thanks in advance

In my experience the noise was constant even in turns.

Did a road test

When turning with the clutch in, sound was still there but when I turned left I would hear a grinding (very slight).. Turning right did not produce grinding

I called Porsche to ask about the warranty and they said it would be covered (I am on the new CPO after August 2008) if "no outside factors" could have caused the issue.

I have a PSS10 suspension with a standard (more road than track) alignment.. we'll see what they say.

I called Porsche last week to ask them if wheel bearings are covered under warranty.. they said yes.

So, I brought it to the dealership today.. They confirmed it was the front right wheel bearing. Oh yes, not covered as it is "wear and tear".. about 600$.. 200 in parts and 3 hours at 125/hour.

I mentioned that last week Porsche said it was covered under warrant but the dealer said Porsche refused it.. My problem is obviously not with the dealer so I politely told him to go ahead and that I would sort it out with Porsche Canada.

Made the call and they assigned it to a "resolution specialist". I told them that if they have a document with my warranty that says wheel bearings are not covered as it is wear and tear I would pay the amount no problem... Let's see if I missed something in my warranty or if someone was confused at the head office.

Either way I am happy that it's most likely one of the least expensive parts that can break on the car!!!

Small advice for the future, if you ever call 1-800-Porsche and ask them for warranty info, have the rep log the answer and open a case.

When I had a bad wheel bearing, I had my warranty pay for it- but I paid for the other side.

Best to do in pairs (if not all 4, but $$)
