Unhappy GIAC chip Stage 1 boost

I have the GIAC stage 1 or 1 Bar program. Just the basic one. I have noticed that it reads 1.2 Bar fairly often during hard acceleration.

Is this normal for a basic GIAC program? Is it safe to run that kind of boost when everything else is stock?

I just don't want to damage anything.

Thanks for the help!

Where did you have it loaded at, not at Doad Gallery hopefully?

Are you only running 91 octane gas?

A 1.2 spike is ok but not sustained, normal boost on 91 is usually 1.0 bar and an occasional 1.1 also.

Sorry, changed the syntax to appease the masses/or minuses???

I would say that it might be from really cold air that is causing you to spike. But since you live in south cali that cant be the case. What octane are you using on your car, and how accurate is your boost gauge? Stock boost gauges arnt that great on any car, i would suggest putting in an electric Defi gauge.

I thought I said that?

1.2 spike is ok once in a while, you should see 1.0 most of the time on 91 and 1.1 sometimes on 91. With 93 and up 1.1 most and 1.2 more often. If you are seeing 1.2 on 91 octane most of the time it seems a little off. Probably what mpwrmodena said, guage shows 1.2 but actually is 1.0-1.1. Enjoy the power!

i would add that the OE gauge probably isn't accurae enough to distinguish between a 1.1 and 1.2 reading on presure...consistently.

Dont worry about it. My car has the same mod and does the same thing with the boost level. No trouble for nearly 2 years and 9000 miles. The stage 1 mod is so conservative compaired to what the car is capable of handling that you should not give this another thought.

The car maybe capable to withstand that kind of boost no problem...but not the K16 turbos. I would guess his boost gauge is off if he's hitting and holding 1.2 bar with a stage 1. I would assume a stage 1 would spike to maybe 1.1 and hold at around .9 - 1.0.
