Interesting.. I flashed my car to do some data logging with EPL and the car flashed perfectly. Once I tried to connect and data log the car, no dice. I am going to try and connect a different computer but it just seems weird that I cannot data log but the flash installed perfectly.

I'm in a similar dilemma as the original poster:

I get the following error msg:

"UNABLE TO WRITE FLASH"
Details: Unable to make a connection to the ecu. Please check all cable connections before trying again.

My internet connection is fine, or else I wouldn't be typing this, my car is hooked up to my 10amp commercial grade charger and my laptop as well is hooked up to the wall charger...

Tried 3 separate USB ports and all 3 are recognized. I have a HP Laptop w/WIN7 and I tried the flash 3 separate times w/the same damn error message.

Unfortunately EPL is closed today... = (

It sounds like a cable problem... if the USB side is OK, have you tried disconnecting the OBDII end and reconnecting? Does your cable show signs of a possible failure (thin section, torn insulation...)?

Have you tried to start the car?

Sometimes errors occur where the program says "unable to write flash" when in actuality the flash was already loaded successfully to the ECU.

I had the same problem in the UK with my EPL flash, even after I had done 2 or 3 tweaked flashes, after datalogging with Durametric.

I ended up using an old laptop, but I think I had to get that laptop authorised by EPL to use, sorry can't be sure.

What I would do though in your position would be to uninstall the EPL loader software & reinstall, then try flashing again.

With the help of prodigymb, I determined that the flash loaded correctly even though I was getting this error msg at the end of the flash load process. Thx everyone!

Did some pulls on the hwy last night & I fouled the plugs out doing so......
