Steve, It's a great mod and the feel is fantastic, but if you have a bad left leg, don't even think about it...retain the easy pedal. It's not bad at all if your leg is healthy, but I could see it being a problem if you have a weak leg.

X98boardwell is infamous around these parts
replace with new

I just did the accumulator and slave cylinder tonight... just washed my hands and cleaned up. I had a hard pedal as well. It cost exactly $523.00 in parts from Suncoast Porsche (with shipping to CA.) and I had a Porsche Mechanic come from the local Porsche shop to help... I removed everything but wanted to make sure we could verify together we had the slave unit hitting the clutch fork. Man, this thing is easy now. I don't track the car at all and the conversion to GT2/GT3 cost more anyways...

Best of luck, but I would just fix it. Besides, the new units are different than their parents.. shouldn't break again.

PM me your number and I would be happy to discuss over the phone if you would like any further info.

Bryan

Easy fix, if your pedal is hard before startup and then becomes soft when you start the car, you need only the accumulator. Cheap, and easy to replace. I did mine last week.

Did you have a DIY that you followed? Do I have to worry about bleeding fluids? I'd really like to do it myself and have the satisfaction and save the money

I had the same problem on my 03 TT.
I have an upgraded clutch masters clutch and it was tricky with the stock system
I decided to do the GT2 conversion . I bought Don's CNC bracket and the parts from pelican and my P dealer.

Just had it done clutch is now great . the pedal is only slightly heavier but much more feel. I wish I did it sooner.

Just an fyi, my understanding is that if the accumulator goes, the slave is likely not far behind. I tried to get away with doing the accumulator only since I had no "blow back" of pentosin up through the ps resevoir, but within a month or two my slave went bad. Also, I had a really hard time with teh accumulator as a diy...took my damn near all day, but I have big hands and my accumulator was on very, very, tight, which made it really hard to get a purchase and leverage on the large nut with the cut down wrench (which is required due to the tight spaces. Good luck!
