hahaha.. Yah I love it. Just waiting for the turbos now. That should be double the fun once they are done

I've avoided Facebook and Myspace so far!! Tough feat to do.. I'm one of the few to rebell. Now that I'm getting married.. the wifey might just build me a facebook. But so far, I'm holding my ground!

Yes, I do. But I upgraded to the stage2b. I have some other equipment issues slowing me down, not related to the 2b kit, but the car just flies on 91 octane. I ran against a ducati 1198 the other day and we were nearly even. It got the jump by a tire length and stayed there. The turbos are extremely violent and boost really early.

So the 2B is my kit, but further addresses the need for more fuel right?

We got warm weather here in Seattle right now.. need to take advantage!

I have the Stage 2A kit. I really like it. The car is really fast, but at the same time the throttle response is just so smooth that it's very easy to drive. I am fuel limited right now. I was making peak engine load of about 205 in April, down to about 195 in August when the temps were higher. That is on 93 octane pump.

I ran about 4 seconds per lap faster at Mid-Ohio, and about the same improvement at Road America (not so sure of my earlier times) compared to last year.

Keep a close eye on the rest of your driveline (wheel bearings, CV joints, etc.) when you start pushing more power through it.

GL,

Jon

Just curious at what rpm did your engine load peak at? What timing were you seeing under those loads? Im trying to see how the torque hits with these turbos. Thanks

unfortunately, the one that can answer that is UMW and he was banned for helping someone via pm's.

I can give you my stage but on 100 octane file:

you can see how much torque this kit can put out with 60 ish pound injectors. 470 ft-lbs at wheels at 3000 rpm. At 4250 rpm it's at 600 ft-lbs. Kevin uses a dyno dynamics I think.

Kevin, you and top gun have not been around much so I guess you did not read his postings regarding this.

I logged some data with my Durametric, and the results are in the two files below. I made 4 runs, starting at 2000 rpm in 4th gear, going up to redline. The Durametric output is in the Excel file, including timing, AFR, and other stuff. I pulled out the rpm and load data, and plotted them in the Tq_hp.pdf file. I also computed the "hp" as if the engine load value were torque. You don't get this result in actual units, so the scale on the vertical axis is arbitrary, i.e., multiply by some factor to get ft-lbs and hp. From my discussions with Kevin, I think that number is about 2.9. Should be the same conversion for all Durametrics, so maybe someone with a Durametric who has also done a dyno test could tell us?

Note that the outside temps were pretty warm, and I was hitting 60C on the inlet air - time for intercooler upgrade...

Time to resurrect an OLD thread! Its been a good while since I've visited 6Speedonline.

I've owned (2) 996TT's in the past (the referenced UMW & a Gemballa tuned) along w/ a few Cayenne Turbos. In addition, I've also had (2) BMW M3's and (2) BMW M5's. I love both Porsche and BMW and I've been considering the F80 M3 and its Turbo Inline 6.

My question: Is a tuned F80 M3 similar in power and feel to my old 996TT I had w/ Kevins UMW setup of the K16/26 turbos? I remember the driving characteristics of that car being absolutely incredible w/ its instant torque!

Anyone have any thoughts. I mean this was back in 2011 when I had this car.. curious how it performs to a tuned F80 in just the engine department? All my cars were manual gear box and I'm only looking to get a manual in the F80.

Maybe I should start a new thread.. but figured some of the old boys might chime in

Your car with those turbos should eat a basic tuned F80 M3 for breakfast lunch and dinner.. then again it depends on how far you go with the word tuned, it is kinda open ended...

nice alias btw, i thought this was my own post for a moment haha
