GTR on the way
That's like saying I almost married a wealthy 300lb female power lifter, but she decided that she wanted a prenup after we got engaged. So I felt bad about going ahead.
I really can't feel bad for you
seriously, you will find plenty more I am sure. what color are you looking for? if you had a choice

Sorry to hear that Scott... .Youll find another.. maybe pick one up with some mods already done!
Have you seen the specs for the revised GTR's? Might want to check those out too when they hit our shores. Heard they are going to have quite a few improvments over the current Model...

I just went from a GTR to an 05 Turbo S. Wanted to post my thoughts and this seems like a great place. I had the GTR for 11 months. I have owned many cars and I still think it is the best car stock I have every driven. With minor power mods (exhaust, midpipe and custom tune) it was brutally fast to 100. It is also an amazing daily driver and is about as livable as any "super car" could ever be. I did say super car as I destroyed a few Italians and a number of turbo P cars on the street and on the track. The main issue with the car for me was the cheap interior and overall feeling that it lacked class. I constantly got followed by the STI, EVO, Mazda 6 crowd and on the day I finally agreed to sell the car I went outside my office and found a lineup of 6 cars taking a photo shoot with my car. They were all Mazda 6s
. It was like an omen from the car gods saying you made the right choice. Subsequently after selling the GTR and being without it for 6 months I think I have only missed selling one car more in my life.
Pros and Cons
GTR
Handling is so good for a car of its size and it is the easiest fast car to drive I have been in. I had only done 1 track day in my life before I got the GTR. I went to a DE at Miller Motorsports Park with the GTR on stock tires and suspension (track alignment) running about 530 WHP on Mustang. By the latter half of the day I was moved up 3 groups and my instructor had me passing guys in GT3s that had over 20 track days. I don't consider myself a good driver at all. The car was so easy I just took what the instructor told me to do and I was able to do it in every case. My only previous track day had been in an e46M3 with full GC suspension and I was over 6 seconds faster in the GTR
Cheap to get really nice power. Spent 3800 and got 530whp on a very conservative Mustang Dyno at Cobb
Very livable and a great daily - Very large for a sports car with a nice trunk
Value - I bought it right, drove it 9k miles in 11 months and lost under 4k.
Reliable - not a single hickup in 11 months
Cons
Attracts more unwanted attention than anything not Italian. Been followed all the way home so many times it is silly. I live in an area where there were only a couple of GTRs when I got mine and once I recall having people on both sides of me taking phone pics at the same time going down the highway. As there are more now it is a little less but not much.
Every Subie/Evo guy in the world wants to race.
Lacks any sort of class. I know this is lame but this is how I felt
Interior is rubbish. Sentra grade plastic
Very few tire choices and it eats the stockers every 9k
Porsche Turbo S
Pros
Interior and overall quality are what you would expect and a big jump over the GTR
Top end speed is really good
I hate having a clutch pedal after 3 SMG cars, 1 DCT car and the GTR but with the 997 shifter I will say this is a great gearbox.
Cons
Handling - I have 19s and PSS10s and although it feels ok it is a light year from the turn in of the GTR. I am looking at sways and playing with the PSS10 settings a bit but the front end is not confidence inspiring.
Trunk
Size
Overall I cannot say I love the Porsche as much as the GTR but I will say I am very happy because it is making up for what the GTR left me wanting. I really want a 997 with PDK but considering I could steal a pristine CPO Turbo S with a 157k sticker it was a no brainer at way less than half the money.
Sorry for the long rant. GTR is a amazing car and if you have other European cars in the stable I definately recommend it very highly. If you are a little bit of a car snob I think it will wear on you.

i learned this from my car buying experience - if you dont love the car stock, modding it will not make you love it. if you love it stock - modding it will make you love it more.

NO WAY a GTR can change your mind.
PORSCHE THERE IS NOT SUBSTITUTE
I'm looking to try out a smg or dual clutch car! I've been watching the GTR's dip into the high 50k range. If thats the case, they should be mid 50k cars at the auction!!!
Let us know how you like it!!!
