Best way to tie down on trailer???

Hi all,

Next weekend I will be putting the turbo on a trailer for the first time. What's the best way to tie it down. I want to make sure I put the straps to something that can take it.

Thanks!
Ashley

The best way to strap down any ride is a individual straps on the tires. It holds the wheels in place and allows the car to ride on it's own suspension.

So do you run the tie down through the wheel and back to itself? Or are you talking about a special strap?

You can use your standard car ratchet strap, but you have to have another piece that's like 2' long and has loops on each end. I'll see if I can find a link or a pic.

If you dont want to buy all new straps, google axle strap. You can purchase the piece for like $8-9. Just make sure you put a good thick towel over where the strap meets the wheel.

Second on the tire straps.

I have the ones that go through the wheel and then thru a metal eyelet. They are fast, easy and STABLE.

Just curious what is the cost of a trailer and can they be rented? Seems like a good idea for track days in case the car breaks and will keep the mileage down.

I found a rental for $55/day with Friday - early Monday considered two days. Hopefully if I keep going with this I will pick up a trailer soon : )

All, FYI, as I just posted in a new thread:

Just a heads up. I placed an order for a set of straps to tie down my 996. Selected the color red. Seems pretty straight forward.

Received them... they are PINK! Contacted ratchetstraps.com to get this resolved and they refuse to do anything to resolve.

I am told it is red, might not be the shade I like, but it is red.

I would strongly advise against dealing with this organization.

Ashley
