Smile Completely outclassed......

Recent threads on the SL55, 355s, TTs vs GT2, one perfomance chip vs another, superbikes and other weapons of mass destruction got me thinking - we're all very proud and keen to discuss how our cars may outperform others on the road or circuit, but, in all humility (yeah, right, on this board....!), what has anyone genuinely encountered that has in practice just blown the socks off their porsche at every level? This was at a recent outing and I've never come across anything so fast. Felt like I was back in a C2.

It's a McLaren F1. Owned and being driven by Nick Mason, the Pink Floyd drummer.

So it was pretty sick in sheer speed terms? How badly did it get away from everything else in the straights?

it's still beautiful and doesn't begin to look dated against the newest (inferior) crop of supercars.

fozzy,
were you suprised by how small the car was physically!!!! They look positively tiny next to a 996tt.... First one I saw I walked right by it in a paddock (car was black, very low key) then came the double take was that f*&$#^@g Mclaren F1 OMG it was. Very impressive and very humbling at the same time.

I know exactly what you mean - to start with I didn't really notice it or recognise it from the back when it was parked up, simply because it didn't look that impressive. There were a lot of caterhams at the same meet, and my first thought was that it was a kit car with fake ferrari rear lights and a big spoiler. LOL. That soon stopped when it moved over to the circuit though. Assume owners see the double-take / jaw drop thing a lot

OK, I was out on the track with my Lamborghini when a car flies by me so fast I barely hear the 16K scream out of his turbo's, a Ferrari F333. OMG! I felt like I was driving a stinking 4 cylinder in the wet.

I agree, I couldn't believe how tiny it was when I saw one in person. A lot of cars are like that though, the diablo looked HUGE in pictures but once you got next to it, it wasn't as big. But it wasn't nearly as extreme a difference as the F1.

Ben,

You've got to stop dissing the CGT!
