What to do??(coilover related)
Ok, here is my situation:
I have had Bilstein PSS-9's on order from Gert for almost 3 weeks now and they have been on backorder. He was told by Bilstein he would have them last week, but they are now saying they will be ready 43rd week
. I am getting very upset about driving a 4x4 and I just want my car lowered. This is in no way Gerts fault and he has been great through the whole thing giving me updates, its purely Bilstein's...
So what should I do...I am a Tire Rack Wholesale dealer, and can get a good deal on the "new and improved" H&R Coilover system which according to them will be available next Monday (10/13). Is the Bilstein system worth waiting for, or is this new improved H&R system fine for me. Keep in mind I have no tracking in the future, the coils are purely to improve handling and have control over hight of car (otherwise woulda done springs).
I dont' know much about the systems, but I know I can get the H&R's a lot cheaper then the Bilsteins, do you get what you pay for??
Regards,
Evan

I don't have any experience with H&R's, and especially not the new revised versions, but I have heard many people are unhappy with the lower than desired drop they create.

With regards to people with H&R's, I think the whole ride hight thing was what they fixed (along with the "noises") which is why I was again interested in them.
Thanks,

How much??
Keep in mind, I am not tracking, just want a good drop and increased handleing no need to go overboard, and not looking to spend a lot (of my dad's
)money!!Evan
I would love to spend some of your dad's money!!! Does he want to adopt me???
You will have to get a quote from Colin you can PM him on this list. I think mine were something like $3200.00 but don't quote me on this. They have more adjustability than the PSS9 because you can adjust compression and rebound. However they are not as easy to adjust as the PSS9's. The PSS9's have one **** and settings from 1 to 9 that you turn to make the car softer or harder.
I was going to get the PSS9's but they were sold out so we went with the KW's. I just did a track event and the car handled very well and still rides nice on the road. I have not yet played around with firming them up for the track.
I think I will be getting the adjustable sway bars front and rear as well.

. I was spending around 2300 for the PSS-9's, so I have to stay around that range. These coilovers seem a bit overkill because all I need is to adjust high and firmness as I will not be tracking....I will PM Colin to see what the deal is though, as I don't really want to wait another month (at least) for coilovers...
Regards, and thanks,

I dunno but the H&Rs don't seem to be that bad. I know Oak swears by 'em. So they must be pretty darn good. I think the GAC (from Japan) is also coming out with a set that includes proper camber plates (instead of the rubber crap we have).

I am going to seriously look into the KW's as I have heard they are a great suspension from my buddy who has them in his Bimmer...

pss9's
I heartily recommend the FVD kit- they manufacture and sell versions of their kit to buth RUF and Techart. I had mine installed after a fiasco with the H&R kit and never looked back- the car is amazing with the FVD PSS9's. I also added a GT2 adjustable reaqr sway. Ride height and understeer issues are no longer. Good luck.
